Your Adoms Comero uses stondord 20 or 36-exposure, 35 mm. film.
Never lood or unlood film in direcf'sunlight. Stond in shode, or turn
your bock to source of light, ond shode comero with body.
Refer to pictures on Poges 2 ond 3 of this booklet, os you proceed.
Insert film in cortridge well (27). Turn rewind knob (8) until film spool
is engoged. Drow film ocross bock of comero. Be sure holes in film
qre engoged in sprockets (23) on feeder spool. Slip free end of film
through slot in toke-up spool (24) until Yz-in.extends on other side of
spool. With your left thumb holding new roll of film securely in position,
use right thumb to roll edge of toke-up spool (24) toword you, slowly,
until film is wound qt leost once oround the toke-up spool, firmly
ottoched to it, ond lies flot ocross bock of comero. Now check ogoin,
to be sure film is still engoged in sprockets (23). See picture crt left.                                              7

The Adoms ropid winder is the rotchet type, which is cocked by winding
the knob in the direction of the block orrow. See picture ot left. Turn
it os for os it will go, by either using two long strokes, or severol short
strokes (like winding o wotch). You con'f turn it too for  . . . when neces-
sory winding is completed, winder locks into position. This movement
odvonces film one frome, cocks shutter, ond engoges double-exposure
prevention. Now, press shutter releose button (20). Repeqt this operd-
tion ogoin. You hove now by-possed exposed portion of film which
extended from light-tight film cortridge, ond ore reody to toke your
first picture. Your shutter being in o cocked position, turn film counter
button (3) either right or left, until counter is set of zero. From now
on, eoch picture you toke will move the counter outomoticolly, ond
you will olwoys know how mony pictures you hove token. Alwoys

The Adoms rongefinder-viewfinder  is the super-imposed or double-
imoge type, combining both rongefinder ond viewfinder in o single
window (22) for greoter convenience. When rongefinder is in focus,
fens is outomoticolly in focus. As you look through the viewfindertyou
see o bright yellow rectongle in the center, reflecting o double imoge.
(See pictures ot left). lf possible, focus on o verticol obiect. Turn your
lens by pressing focusing ring (16) with your left fingers. Focus lens
until double imoges ore superimposed, ond become o single imoge, os
illustroted in pictures ot left. Your lens is then in focus. Rongefinder
focusing is olso used when you chonge to occessory (wide ongle or
telephoto) lenses.                                         13

Adoms Model 35.| does not hove o built-in rongefinder. In ploce of the
rongefinder window (2), you will find o nome plote. A clip-on rong"e-
finder moy be odded of ony time ond is very successful becouse of
the comero's greot depth-of-field. Clip-on rongefinders do not couple

to viewfinder.
Focusing of the Adoms 351 is done by eiithei meosuring or estimoting
distonce in feet from lens to subiect, then setting footoge scole (13)
to coincide with lens-to-subiect distonce.                      15

ZONE FOCUSING... DEPTH-OF-FIEtD SCALE
   Used extensively by press photogrophers ond sports reporters. Lets
    you toke quick-oction shots without stopping to focus eoch shot. This is
    done by pre-setting your footoge scole (.l3). When shooting neorby sub-
      iects, set scole ot l0 ft., ond lens ot f/]6. This will give you shorp pic-
     tures from 6 to 26 ft. When shooting distont subiects, set scole ot l5 ft.
    ond lens ot f/16. You will get shorp pictures from B ft. to infinity. Your
    length of exposure will be determined by the light reoding on your
    exposure nreter. Form the hobit of using your depth-of-field scole (,l2).
      It tells you exoctly how much of your picture will be in focus, of ony
    given distonce ond f/stop. The left-hond number indicotes the neorest
   shorp point; the right-hond number the forthest shorp point. For
    exomple: if your lens is set ot f/5.6 ond subiect is l0 ft. from lens, the
     depth-of-field scole shows thot everything in your picture will be in
l6  shorp focus from B to l2 ft.

      When you hove exposed your 20 or 36 exposure film, you must rewind

        film bock into light-tight film cortridge before opening your comero.

      To do this, pull out rewind knob (8) with right fingers. Press on film

       counter button (3) with left thumb. Keep button depressed while you

operotes the coupled rongefinder. When inserting lens, be sure screw

tENS OPENINGS
     Lens openings (17) from f12.8 to fl22 oppeqr right next to ouier lens ring. F/2.8 is the
      lorgest lens opening, ond odmits the greotest omourrt of light; fl72 is the smollest lens
     opening, ond qdmits the leost qmount of light. Outer lens ring hos two red dots,
     which moy be rotqted bock ond forth with "click" stops, so you con reqd lens setting
     frbm top of comero. Set either red dot on outer lens ring (18) to f/stop desired.

   5 H U TT E R S P E E D S
      Tire Pronto shutter hos four speeds t 1125, l/50, lil 00, qnd l/200, plus "B". "8" or Bulb
         setti ng is used for exposures which require more thon l/25-second. The shutter will
     remoin open os long os the shutter releose button (20) is depressed. We recommend
      thot you use o tripod when moking Bulb shots. To set shutter speeds (10), simply turn
22  ring (9) until red mqrk on ring is in direct line with block mork on numerol.

Use ony Flosh Gun with Europeon (PC) fitting. The Adoms Pronto shutter
is occurotely synchronized ot (X) zero deloy. Tokes excellent flosh
pictures ot l/25-second with Closs M lomps: No. 5,25 or M-2. Moy be
used ot oll speeds with electronic flosh.
Attoch Flosh Gun Cord with Europeon (PC) fitting to plug ('14). Flosh
Guns with occessory clip moy be ottoched to top of comero; those with
tripod fitting moy be ottoched to tripod socket (26) on bottom of

     Your Adoms Comero is equipped with o Self Timer (15). This timer deloys shutler oction
      frorn I to l0 seconds, omple time for self-portroits or for ioining in o group shot. We
     recommend thot you mount your cqmerq on o tripod when using this feoture. .
    To use the Self Timer, set shutter ot ony speed except Bulb, cock self-ti mer lever (15), ond
       trip shutier releose button (20), then pose for the picture. You wi ll heor ihe shutter os it
      outomoticolly tokes the picture. Flosh shots foo, con be token with the self timer.
