Loadlng the camera
Pull the camera locking bar downwards and
open camera back. o

Pull out the rewind knob, insert the film
cassette and press back the rewind knob, @

lnsert the free end of the film into the slot of
the take-up spool and hook one perforation
hole over the lug of the spool. O

Turn the take-up spool by its milled knob un-
til the film is taut and the transport sprocket
engages the perforations of the film. Close
the back of the camera. @

Adjusting the settings
Set the film-type indicator to the speed of
the film in use. Black-and-white fi!ms are
marked by a black field beside the DIN or
ASA value, colour films by a red field. O

Set the frame counter by turning the milled
knob to the small red triangle between 0 and
36, when the camera is loaded with a cassette
for 36 exposures and to 22 when a 20 ex-
posure film is used. @

Turn the rapid wind lever to the right until it
stops, depress the release key and operate
the rapid wind lever once again. The frame
counter should now indicate either 36 or 20
and will then count backwards, indicating the
number of frames left to be exposed. O

Set the correct distance by turning the dis-
tanbe setting ring to the distance required.
The depth-of-field ring indicates the range
within which the picture will be sharp. Ex-
ample: when the camera is set to aperture
f/8 and to a distance of 20 feet (6 metres) the
range between one 8 and the second B will
cover a distance from 10 feet (3 m) to oo
 (infinity). @
 The snap-shot setting
ensures sharp pictures all the timel For this
purpose aperture f/8 should be used and one
of the following two distance settings chosen:
 a) when set to 6 feet (2 m) everything be-
tween approximately 5 feet to 10 feet
     (1.50 m and 3 m) will be sharp.
 b) when set to 20 feet (6 m), all objects be-
tween 10 feet and oo (3 m and oo) will be
- sharp.
The snapshot settings are marked by red
 figures.
Sight the subject by looking through the
 viewfinder.
Depress the release key quietly and gently.
lf the key cannot be operated you have either
not advanced the film or you have not turned
the rapid wind lever until it stops. Do this
 immediatelyl /

After the exposure advance the film by turn_
ing the rapid wind lever until it stops. This
will also tension the shutter and your ADOX
POLO will be ready for the next shot.

How to expose with ADOX POLO
Our exposure table indicates the apertures
to be used with a shutter speed of t/125 sec.
and a film of 40 ASA (= 17. DIN e. g. ADOX
KB 17). lt is applicable during the summer
months between 9 a. m. and 4 p. m. For other
times of the day use shutter speed of r/so sec.

Using filters
When the camera is loaded with a black and
white film the usual colour filters can be
used, of course. The appropriate filter factor
should be taken into account by using awider
aperture as follows: for filter factor 1.5 open
the aperture by half a stop; for filter factor 2
stops. Example: Factor2-re-set aperture f/B
to aperture f/5.6.
When using colour film the instructions of the
manufacturers should be adhered to strictly.

Pictures with flash light
The flash lead of the flashgun should be
connected to the flash contact. Make sure
that it fits tightly. o

Flashlight exposures
When using flashbulbs the shutter speed
should always be set to t/so sec. When
employing an electronic flashgun all shutter
speeds can be used. The following table in-
dicates the apertures to be chosen for
various distances.
View original page 14
Page 15 · Read text
The correct aperture value for ADOX C 18
colour reversal film and ADOX NC 17 colour
negative film andADOX blackandwhite films
can be found in the instructions issued with
the flash lamp.
Example: guide number 64, distance 8 feet =
64:8 = f/8. When taking flash exposures the
instructions issued by the manufacturers of
the flashguns and bulbs should be taken into
account.

Unloading the camera
After exposing the last frame of the film the
rapid wind lever will no longer operate. This
indicates that the film must be rewound into
its cassette.
Depress the locking button at the bottom of
the camera and turn the rewind knob in the
clockwise direction. When the slightly heavy
going becomes easier suddenly, the fil.m will
be rewound. The locking button will project
onlywhen the film is advanced once again. @
Open the camera back, pull out the rewind
knob and remove the cartridge with the
exposed film.

... and finally

For the design of the ADOX POLO camera,
new raw materials were used besides the
usual ones such as, Polyamide and Poly-
styrol, plastics of the highest quality made
by leading plastics manufacturers. This makes
the camera body highly resistant to shock.
Nevertheless, the ADOX POLO is a precision
instrument, like any other miniature camera.
For this reason the camera should be handled
with the same care as all precision apparatus
and must not be attacked with a screwdriver
or pliers if something goes wrong. lf this
should happen, take the ADOX POLO to your
photo-dealer or send it to the representative
of ADOX FOTOWERKE in your country.
