POLO miniature cameras. The automatic ex-
posure control pioneering advancements  in
modern photographic technology. Without
any preliminary knowledge, you will be able
to take pictures by simply following the
3-point rule  :

 l. Pull the cotch on the comero bodv lock
 downwords ond open the bock. Push up the
 rewind cronk, insbrt the film cossefte' ond
 push bock the rewind cronk.     O O
 Rotole the toke-up spool by meons of the
 milled flonge unfil'thd wide ilot with rhe lus
becomes visible. Push the end of the film into
the slot ond hook the luq into one of the
perforotion holes. Continu6 turnino the toke-
up spool in the direction of the orro-w until the
film is drown tight ond the teeth of the trons-
port sprocket engoge the perforotions. Then
close the comero bock.         O

Getting reody to tqke pictures
Set the frome counter by furninq the milled
knob' with 36-exposure films setit to the red
triongle betwee.n'-0 ond 36, with 2O-exposure
films to the red figure 22'ond with lS-expo-

Swing the ropid-wind lever to the risht untit
it stops, press the releose button on-d swinq
the lever once ogoin. The counter will noiindicote 36, n orl5 (occordinq to the lenqth
of the film) ond henceforworil will indic6te
the number of pictures remoining for expo-
sure.
Depre.ss the s.etting tock on the shutter ond
turn the knurled ring until ihe setting mork
snqps in ot the correit film-speed figuie. O

Exposure settings
Sei the shutter-speed by turning the milled
rino. On the B-seitins ("Brief time") the shut-
ter"will remoin open Jniil you let go of the re-
leose button. Thil lower figures represent theslower shutter speeds, e. g. 30 :  ll30 sec. The
higher figures indicote folter speeds, e. g. 250:  l/250 sec.
Controlling the exposure
Put the cdteto ub to your eye ond look
throuoh the viewfihder. You will see the re'
flectef morkers which indicote the imoge
field. On the upper edge of this oppeor two
indicotors for odiusting fhe exposure:
ln the riqht-hond indicqtor con be seen the
pointer o-f ihe exposure meter. By turning the
bperture or shutterspeed setting rings, the
pbinter con be set to the centrol mork. @O
In the lefi-hond indicotor con.be reod the
operture volue selected.
You con check the exposure  without toking
the cqmerq lrom your eye

It the operture ring should reoch either of its
end po'sitions before the pointer hos been
broudht into line with the centrol mork, se-

With ihis y6u need only bother oboui selec-
ting one of the two dist6nce settings:
o) when set to 6 tt. (2 m) everyihinq between

Observe the subiect through the b-rightline
viewfinder. The suspended luminous frome in-
dicotes the exoct imoge oreo. When toking
pictures of neorby sub-iects (from 3 to obout

Set the exposure ond distonce os normol (it
 is not possible to toke time exposures on the
 B-setting when using deloyed oction). Tension        "deloyed-oct-ion                          lever ofter fiist opglo- the red

   When using floshbulbs, the shutter speed must
    be set to T/30 sec. With electronii flosh oll
     shutter speeds. moy be used. The exposure  is
   no lonqer odiusted bv meons of the meter
    needle"in the viewfinder, but by monuolly
     setting the operture to the oppropriote volue,
    from  f 12.8 to + 122. The correct operture vo-
     lues for use with ADOX blqck-ond-white ond
    colour films will be found in the instructions
    provided by the floshbulb ond flosh equip-
    ment monufocturers.
    The operture con be determined by using the     following formulo: Aperiure  (f / No.) :  guide
    number divided by distonce. For exomple:t    with o guide number of 100 ond q flqsh-sub-      iect distonce of l0 ft, we hove 100 : l0 :  10,
        i. e, f /'10 (oproximotely f / 11).
    Using filters
    Adiust the exposure in the normql woy, but
    whilst holding the filter in front of the ex-
    posure meter window. For toking the octuol
     piciure, fit the filter in front of tlie lens.
    Time exposures
    Turn ihe shutter-speed setting ring to B. You
   con now expose the picture for os long os
    you wish. Alwoys use o tripod qnd cobld re-
   leose.                                  (@

Toking piclures with close-up lenses.
Supplementory close-up lenses con eosily be
used with the ADOX POLOMAT  'l S. Any nor-
mol supplementorv lenses of suitoble size with
o prrh-bn mount'32 mm in diometer con be
employed. On occount of the very limited
derith bt neld it is importont to mointoin ihe
correct distonce very occurotely. lf necessory
the distonce ond foius settinq con be checked
by plocing o suitoble piecebf ground gloss
in the film oote of the comero (before loo-
dino the fil;). The effects of vidwfinder po-
roll"ox should'olso be wotched corefully.
When lhe film comes lo on end ...
After iokino the lost picture the ropid-wind'Thelever will b"e locked dutomoticolly.       film
must now be rewound bock into its cossette,
so thol it con be removed in the light without
donger of fogging.
Press the knob olonqside the rewind cronk
with your thumbnoil,ihe cronk will spring up

Depress the lockinq button on the bose of
the comero ond hoTd it in this position. Turn
the rewind cronk in the direction of the orrow.
As soon os o slight resistonce is felt, the film
is fully rewoundl Releose the locking"@button.
Pull the cotch of the comero-bock lock down-
words ond open the bock.       O
Pull out the rewind cronk os for os possible
