FILM COUNTER After looding lhe comero, lhe film counter underneoth the comero should be set to the storting position. To do this, turn lhe milled ring in thedirection of the orrow (see illustrotion) vm so thot the fixed mork is opposite the green triongle. When using o cossette with 36 exposures this is done by set- ting the scole to the green lriongle between 36 ond l, for films with 20 exposures the green triongle belween 25 ond 20. The comero is reody for the first exposure ofter tronsporting the film to bring this number (i. e. 36 or 20) opposite the fixed setting mork (see illustrotion). The film counter indicotes lhe number of exposures you still hove left on lhe film. Three operofions ore therefore necessory when looding your comero before toking the first photogroph: Set the film type indicator, DIN I ASA number and film counter at once, before you forget!View original page 9

HOW TO DO IT
l. Shutler speed
First set o shutter speed suited to
the porticulor subieci. For moving
obiecls it is best to use o fost shut-
ter speed (see illustrotion, for in-
stonce 1/125 sec.). For photogrophs
without o tripod only speeds be-
tween 1/3g ond t/ss6 second ore
suited.

Now odiusl lhe exposure meter
pointer in its window (top of the
comero) to the centre of the set-
ting mork by turning the operture
setting ring (see illustroiion).
This is then the correct exposure
reoding ond gives lhe proper
operture for the shutter speed

www.butkus.us The chief ollroclion of your comero is the exposure vqlue indicoiion reflected in the viewfinder which con be controlled ot ony time when viewing your subiect. When copiuring o series of subjects (such os scenes of sport, ploy ond children etc.) this feoture proves to be espe- ciolly useful becouse smoll exposure flucluotions con eosily be compensoted. Besides, the red worning mork becomes visible in the viewfinder os soon os the lighting conditions do not permit io ioke o picture (see illusiro- tion below). THE RANGEFINDER Focusing is very simple with the oid of the built-in coupled rongefinder. Through the viewfinder eyepiece ot the bock of ihe com- ero you will see thot the entire field of view is coloured slightly ond hos o diomond- shoped portion in fhe centre. ,l At first lhis cenlre imoge will be seporoted into lwo horizoniolly disploced outlines (see illustrotion, top right). lf you now move the focusing ring with the index or middle finger of your left hond you will find thot lhe out- lines of lhe double centre imoge coincide (lower illustrotion). When this point is reoch- ed, the obiect is outomolicolly in focus. You con rely implicitly on the occurocy of the rongefinder which tokes the guess work out of focusing.View original page 21
