Our comeros ore designed for the perforoted minioture
film (35 mm) normolly supplied by the trode in rolls of
20 or 36 exposures (size 24X36 mm).
To open the bock of the comero the two milled knobs
ore pressed ogoinst eoch other with the thumb ond
index finger of the right hond. The topered end of the
film, proiecting from the film cortridge, is folded through
the middle of the third perforotion hole (A) in such o
woy thot, when the topered end of the film is pushed
through the slot (morked with o red dot) of the toke-up
spool, the red clip of this lotter enlers into the soid
third perforotion hole (B). The ftlm thus is protected
ogoinst  its being pulledoutduringthewindingoperotion.

The AKAREX is desisned for the perforqted minioture film (35 mm) normolly

             The purpose of folding the end over is to ensure thot no obstruc-
                  tions occur towords the end of the exposures.
              The film cortridge is now inserted into the cosefte chomber by
                     first using the operoting knob (21), which couses the rewind
             knob (22) to project itself outomoticolly os for os the first notch.

descends into its originol position. To ensure thot the film comes to rest flot ogoinst
the film window on-d to bnoble the lower feed wheel to enqoqe firmlv wiTh the
perforotlon  in the film, the operoting knob (21) should ogoin 5e"used. The rewind
knob (22), now once more in position for monipulotion, should be turned in the
direction of the orrow until the film is stretched flot over the bore film bors.
The woll of the comero con now be closed. Before the first exposure, the be-
ginning of the film, which is olreody pre-exposed, should be fed forwqrd os
described hereofter.

For the tronsport of the film, the ropid lever wind (25) provided on the bose
of the comero must be moved without foil os for os the stop, whence it con

to be fed forword by the length of o complete picture in eoch cose. The
movement of the ropid lever wind (25) ot the some iime couses the shutter

This foctor is of greoi importonce in meosuring the exposure voluelAfter the
minioture film hos been inserted, its sensitivity, which is indicoted (occording
to DIN or ASA Stondords) on ihe pockings of the films, must be tronsferred
onto the comero.
For this purpose, the operoting knob (7) is used to set the diol (6) (lC or lD)
to the sensitivity volue of the film on the window, with the designotion "DlN'
or "ASA", os the cose moy be.
The film-in-use indicotor (8) should be used, in oddition, to indicote the porti-
culor type of film. The obbreviotions "NEG" ond "POS" indicote colour-
rregotive or colour-positive respectively, the block-white-block  field denoting
blocl<-ond-withe films in generol.

One of the most importont prerequisites for successful photogrophy is to
ensure thot exoctly the right quontity of light folls on the film. In-generol it is

This coordinotion between exposure time ond diophrogm in the exposure

doors ihe comero should be inclined slightly dowhwords when reodings ore

used for cleoning the honeycomb window.

When photogrophing obiecls close ol hond, set the distonce in occordonce
with the centre morker ('l5o) of the depth of focus scole (.|5). A reoding con
then be tofen, os described'obove, of the depth of focus'ronge ovoiloSle in
front ond behind.
For long disloncce phologrophs without foreground: set to infinity.
For close-up snops, the diophrq$n.|,8      8 should be set 1o2,4 m (8'); the depth offocus then extends from    to 3,5 m (6'to 1l'8").
Distont views with foreground: Set the diophrogm 5,6lo 10 m (30'4"); the depth
of focus then covers everything between 5 m (16'8") ond infinity.

setting. The cocking of the comerq shutter is controlled outomoiicolly by the

times go!.be set, from _'l :"!. to l/300 sec., os we-ll os Position B for long'expo-sures (setting morker'l5o). To set the shutter to the exposure volue osce-rtoined

To releose the shutter -   i. e. to obtoin the exposure - the releose knob (1)islightly pressed downwords with the right index finger until the shutter hos
operoted. Sudden or ierky movements, even with opporently short exposure
times such os 1/60 or 1/125 sec., should be ovoided, os ihe results moy then be
blurred. For time exposures, the time setting ring ('12) should be set to "8". The
shutter will now remoin open os long os fhe releose knob is pressed down-
words. lf o coble releose is used, thii should be screwed into'socket  (2). For
long exposures  it is odvisoble to use o coble releqse with o securing-device

when the user wishes fo oppeor on the photogroph himself, or when the
photogroph is being token from on insecure position, so thot o meons is re-
quired for releosing the shutter wrthout recourse lq lhe hond being used forholding on. The Prontor SVS Shutter of the AKAREX is operoted by the outo-
mqtic releose  if the synchro switch lever (16) is ploced in position V. This con
only be done qfler the cocking of the shuller. When the shutter hos been

to be wound bock. The film should be wound bock into its cossette by roioting
the oforemeniioned rewind knob with the thumb ond forefinger of the right
hond. The decreosed  resis once to rototion, together with the foct thot the
exposure counter mechonism -  is no longer seen to function - os it turnes withihd rewind mechonism    indicotes thol the film is inside its lightproof cos-sette. The bock of the comero-     con now be opened ond the cortridge with the
exposed film removed. The rewind lever (31) should now be moved bock to
iis bosic position.

lherfore be used when synchronizing flosh bulbs under slqndqrd conditions.  '  .
After ihe shutter-releose, the synchro swiich lever (16) outomoticolly reverts
to "X".
