LOADING OF CAMERA
The ARETTE tokes the perforoted minioture fllm (35 tt),
ovqiloble in the stondord cossette for 20 or 36 exposures
(24x36 mm).
                                                                    toTo open the comero bock the two locking buiions Q\ ore
b" pressed ogoinst eoch other by thumb ond index finger of
your right hond. The topered end, overlopping from the cos-
setie hos to be folded through the middle of the third perforo-
tion hole (A) thotwhen inserting the folded end into the slot of
the spindle the red hook will feed the third perforotion hole.
This ovoids ony pulling out of the fllm when winding up.
The fllm coriridge hos to be inserled into the cossette chomber
of the comero ofter therewinding knob (23) hos been fully pull-
ed out. Hoving inseried the cossette the rewinding knob hos to
be pushed in ogoin ond by turning the knob in the direction of
the orrow the fllm is stroightened ond lies on the focol plone.
Now the comero bock will be closed. Before toking the first
picture the film should be qdvonced os described on poge 6.

 For sofety tronsport the ropid lever wind (25) must be turned uniil the stop. At the
some time the film will be tronsported, the shuiter cocked, ihe exposure counter
operoted qnd the double exposure lock put in. The reverse motion of the ropid lever
wind works outomoticolly.
EXPOSURE COUNTER
The film which is pre-exposed by inserting some must be removed by 3 blonk
exposures (tronsport ond releose) in order to hove unexposed film on the focol plone
for the first exposure. The exposure counter (26) will be put into its bosic position "0"
by pressing ond iurning to the left or right.
Accurote counting is only guoronteed by in-
serted film. Moreover it shows - before snopp-
ing-which picture is reody for exposure.

DIN/ASA-ADJUSTING
The DIN/ASA disk (Z) musf be odiusted by meons of the operotion knob (9) in
occordonce with the DIN or ASA volues indicoted on the film pockoges.
The settino of the film sensitivitv hos to be ochievid on the film sensitivitv indi-
cotor (.|0)itoo. The indicotor "NEG" ond "POS" refers to negotive respectively
positive color films ond the block/white/block field refers to block ond white film.
EXPOSURE METER
The comero hos to be pointed towords the subiect. The indicotor (4) engoged by the
ligth reflected on the photocell (3) con be eosily reod from obove. ot the exposure

The illustrotion beside shows lwo stondord lenses with
               50 mm focql length, one Xenon f/2.0 ond one Xenor f/3.5.
                The following exomples refer to the lotter lens.
              The lens mount beors three scoles:
                The diophrogm scole ot the diophrogm ring (14) with
                   the engroved volues 16, 11, 8, 5.6 etc.
                  The depth of field scole (.l6) with the diophrogm volues
                     16, 11,8,5.6,3.5 - 3.5, 5.6,8, ll, l6 engroved of both                     sides of the focusing indicoting mork (17).
Xenon 2.0/50         The focusing scole ot the focusing ring (15 from I m

EXCHANGE OF TENSES
T.he lens is kept tothe co.mero body by meons of the edged locking ring (11). When
chonging the lens hold ihe cornero wiih lens upwords oXd unrcrer,i the"ldcking rino
which releoses the lens. When replocing o lens moke sure thot the smqll slit in the
lens mount fits into the guide pi1 of the iomero. Fix ihe lens in ond screw the locking
ring tight ogoin. Do not touch the lens with your fingers.
TUMINOUS FRAME VIEW FINDER
The reflected frome view finder will greotly eose relioble definition of imoge field.
                      The imoge boundries for the differeni lenses oppeor
                       os brightly i,lluminoted. frome, opporently stonding  in
                         the room when opplying the eye close. to the v-iew
                             finder eyepiece (19).
                      The lorger frome morked "50" refers to the stondord
                                lens of 50 mm focol length. Strictly speoking, however,
                                       it opplies to lens setting of inf. only. fn cose of

The position of the reflected boundries ore independend
from the viewing direction of the eye, thus eiiminotes

DIAPHRAGM ADJUSTMENT AND DEPTH OF FOCUS RANGE
The humon eye will interprete in the best woy the function of the diophrogm which
will control the ligth volume offecting the film in o respective relotion of the shutter
speed. Moreover the diophrogm determines on odequote depth focusinq oreo. The
fbcus of imoge will be eitended from the odlusted d'istonce forword onil bqckword,
os well ond i-s moinly dependent from the selected lens opening ond the focusing'
distonce.
The diophrogm will be odlusted with the diophrogm indicoting ring (14). The ronge

SHUTTER
The ARETTE is equipped with the PRONTOR SVS shutter including exposure volue
odiustment. No concern hos to be token obout the cocking of the shutier os this is
outomoticolly controlled by the filmtronsport. 9 differeni exposure times from I sec.
to1/soosec. ore ovoiloble by odlusting the time setting ring (13) os well os position B.
In order to odiust the shutier in occordonce with the engoged exposure time the'
iime setting rin! (13) hos to be turned until the engoged e*ioiure tinie points to time
indicoting mork (12). The engroved exposure times con be set only. lf the mork
points between two time volues, either the shorter or the longer shutter speed will
come in oction.
                        Medium speed (1ioo sec).

                                      blurred exposures.

   RETEASEI,
il   To releose the shutter the releose knob (1) hos to be pushed down by index finger
     until the shutter clicks. Avoid ony sudden ond pulling movements os they ruin your
     pictures. For time exposures set time setting ring (13) ot "B". The shutter remoins open
     until you will releose him. Coble releose should be screwed into the socked. For long
    exposures  it is odvisoble to use o coble releose with fixing screw.
   SEIF TIMER
    The self timer is o help in mony respects i.e. when the comero user desires to oppeor
   on the picture or when o time exposure might be
   which might result o shoked releose.
   The self timer con only be operoted with cocked shut-
     ter. Slide synchro switch lever (18) in position "V" ond
    releose shutter by pressure on releose knob (l). A

FII.M REWIND
At the end of the filmtronspori o cleor obstruction will be noiiced when trying on
overwinding thus results o teoring of the film from the cossetie. The exposure counter
(26) shows the omount of film ovoiloble. In cose the lost picture could not be fully
pulled out the exposure counter will indicote onoiher figure os ihe expected number
20 or 36.
Before opening the cqmerq bqck the film must be rewound into its cortridge.
Operote releose lever (22) for rewind mechonism. Rewind knob (23) will come out
outomoticolly.Thefilm  will be rewound into ihe cortridge byturning the rewind knob
                               in direction of orrow. Decreosed resistonce in winding
                       ond stop of exposure counter - runs whilst rewinding -
                              indicote thot film is bock in cortridge. Now you moy
                      open the comero bock ond remove the film. Rewind
                       knob hos to be reset in its bosic position.

AFFIXING FLASH ATTACHMENT
The flosh coble hos to be fitted into the flosh con-
toct socked (27). The fully synchronised shutter will
toke ot oll exposure times flosh exposures with
elecironic flosh ond flosh bulbs.
Lightening of flosh should be effected only by fully
opened shutter. This colls for the correct position
of synchro switch lever (18). For better illustrotion
ore given some hints on poge 18.
Lever(18) must besetot "V" when using the self timer. Exposure will be effected with
o deloy of 8 seconds. The flosh will olwoys be lightened by the rules of the "X"
position. After releose the switch lever will outomoticolly reploce to "X".

    FILTER AND SUN SHADE
    The focusing indicoting ring (16) of the ARETTE lens
      is provided with on internol threod for holding color
       filters, sun shode or close-up lenses. They ore double
lit    threoded ond therefore o close-up lens, color filter qnd
     j    sun shode con be screwed on the lens olltogether. The
        I    foresoid sequence however hos olwoys to be observed
     (AKARELlE-occessories   fit in here, too).
    The engoged color filter will reduce the incident light
     to o certoin degree. to compensote this the exposure
     time hos to be lengthened or better the obtoined ex-
     posure volue decreosed by the exposure volue figures
     mentioned on poge 21.
     Exomple: When using on oronge filter with extension
     focfor 2.5 the engoged exposure volue l3 reduced by
      this foctor 13-2.5:  10.5 hos be set ot the shutter.
