TOADING OF CAMERA
The ARETTE tokes the perforoted minioture film (35 mm),
ovoiloble in the stondord cossette for 2A or 36 exposures
(24X36 mm).
To open the comero bock the two locking butions ore to be
pressed ogoinst eoch other by thumb ond irrdex finger of your
right hond. The topered end, overlopping from fhe cosseite hos
to be folded through the middle of the third perforofion hole
(A) thot when inserting ihe folded end irrto the slot of the
spindle the red hook will feed the third perforotion hole. This
ovoids ony pulling out of the film when winding up.
The film cortridge hos to be inserted into the cossette chomber
of the comero ofter the rewinding knob hos been fuily pulled
out. Hoving inserted the cossette the rewinding knob hos to be
pushed in ogoin ond by turning the knob in the direction of the
orrow the film is stroightened ond lies on the focol prone. Now
the comero bock will be closed. Before toking the first picture
the film should be odvonced os described on poge 6.

FITMTRANSPORT
For sofeiy tronsport the ropid lever wind (26) must be turned until the stop. At the
some time the film will be tronsported, the shutter cocked, the exposure counter
operoted ond ihe double exposure lock put in. The reverse motion of the ropid lever
wind works outomoticolly.
EXPOSURE COUNTER
The film which is pre-exposed by inserting some must be removed by 3 blonk
exposures (tronsport ond releose) in order to hove unexposed film on the focol plone
for the first exposure. The exposure counter (27) will be put into its bosic position "0"
by pressing ond turning to the left or right.
Accurote counting is only guoronteed by in-
serted film. Moreover it shows - before snopp-
ing - which picture is reody for exposure.View original page 11Page 12 · Read text
DIN/ASA.ADJUSTING The DIN/ASA disk (7) must be odiusied by meons of the operotion knob (9) in occordonce with ihe DIN or ASA vqlues indicoted on the film pockoges. The setting of the film sensitivity hos to be ochieved on the film sensitivity indicotor (10), ioo. The indi- cotion "NEG" ond "POS" refers to negotive respec- tively positive color films ond the block/white/block field refers io block ond white film. HINTS FOR EXPOSURE READING AND ADJUSTMENT Oneof the most imporiont foctors in obtoining successful pictures is thoi the omount of light will foll on to the film which resulis ihe correci holf tone effect of the film. lt is simultoneously whether this light volume is obtoined by..less light over o longer or more light over q shorter period.View original page 12

The built-in exposure volue meter will reod exoctly the omouni of light being reflected
from the subiect onto the lens.
The principle of modern exposure volue reoding is to express the omount of light
under considerotion of the film sensitivity in o figure, the so-colled exposure volue.
This exposure volue figure will be obtoined from the exposure meter ond the
shutter ot the comerq hos io be odiusted occordingly. The mechonism of the shutter
iokes core thot by meons of the engoged exposure volume olwoys the correct omount
of light will reoch the film. Usuolly long exposure
times coll for smoll diophrogms which ollow light
through o smollopening onlywhereos short exposure
times increose the opening of the lens.
This excellent detoiled negotives.

The indicotor (4) engoged by the light reflected on the photo cell (3) con be eosily reod from obove ot the expoiure meter. The more or less intense indi- cotor movement is on indicoiion of the omount of light refiected from the subiect to the comero lens. The film sensiiivify hos lo be odiusted by.the operotion knob (9) of the exposure meter ofter looding the comero with film qs mentioned on poge 7. The edged ring on fop of the exposure volue meter hos to be odiusted until fhe red reodiusting in- dicotor (5) covers the indicqtor of volue meter itself. Are both indicoiors in the some position you will reod the corresponding exposure volue oi the red iriongle mork in the exposure volue window.View original page 14

FOCUSING ADJUSTMENT
The focusing indicoting ring (16) hos to be odiusted
in occordonce with the estimoted or focused distonce
volue.
DIAPHRAGM ADJUSTEMENT AND
DEPTH OF FOCUS RANGE,
The humon eye will interprete in the best woy the function of the diophrogm which
will control the light volume offecting the film in o respective relotion of the shutter
speed. Moreover the diophrogm determines on odequote depth focusing oreo. The
focus of the imoge will be extended from the odiusted distonce forword ond bockword
os well ond is moinly dependent from the.selected lens opening ond the focusing
distonce.
The diophrogm will be odiusted with the diophrogm indicoting ring (15).

15 ft. (5 m).
SHUTTER
The ARETTE is equipped with the PRONTOR SVS shutter including exposure volue
odiustment. No concern hos to be token obout the cocking of the shutter os this is
outomoticolly controlled by the filmtronsport. 9 different exposure times from I sec.
to 1/goo sec. ore ovoiloble by odiusting the time settinq ring (14) os well os position for
long exposures (setting mork 6o).

ln order to odiust the shutter in occordonce with exposure volue engoged by the
exposure meter the interlocking lotch (13) must be pressed down. Thus results
o free odiusting of the diophrogm indicoting ring (15) which beors the red exposure
volue scole (11). Also the time setting ring (14) or both rings (14 ond 15) con be
odiusted ot the some time by pressing the interlocking lotch. The exposure volue
shutter hos been correctly set when the red exposure volue setting mork (12) points
to the exposure volue previously determined. Full ond intermediote volues csn be
obtoined.

For exposure volues below 7 exposure times exceeding I sec. moy result for smoll
diophrogms. In this cose time setting ring (14) should be set ot "8". The green figures
indicote the exposure time for the diophrogm volues morked below in full seconds.
For the exposure itself the time setting ring (14) should be left ot "B" qnd the
diophrogm indicoting ring ('15) hos to be set ot the selected exposure volue by press-
ing down the interlocking lotch (,|3).

RETEASEil
I To releose the shutter the releose knob (1) hos io be pushed down by index finger
until the shutter clicks. Avoid ony sudden ond pulling movements os they ruin your
pictures. For time exposures set time setting ring (14) of "B". The shutter remoins open
until you will releose him. Coble releose should be screwed into the socket. For long
exposures it is odvisoble to use o coble releose with fixing screw.
SEIF TIMER
The self timer is o help in mony respects i. e. when the comero user desires to oppeor
on the picture or when o time exposure might be .obtoined from on insecure position
which might result o shoked releose.
The self timer con only be operoted with cocked shutter. Slide synchro switch lever (19)
in position "V" ond releose shutter by pressure on releose knob (1).A morgin of 8 sec.

pulled out the exposure counter will indicote onother figure os the expected number
20 or 36.
Before opening the cqmerq bqck the film musl be rewound into its cortridge.
Operote releose lever (23) for rewind mechonism. Rewind knob (24) will come out
outornoticolly. The film will be rewound into the cortridge by turning the rewind knob
in direction of orrow. Decreosed resistonce in winding
ond stop of exposure counter - runs whilst rewinding -
indicote thot film is bock in cortridge. Now you moy
open the comerq bock ond remove the film. Rewind

FILTER AND SUN SHADE
The focusing indicoting ring (,|6) of the ARETTE lens
is provided with on internol threod for holding color
filters, sun shode or close-up lenses. They ore double
threoded ond therefore o close-up lens, color filter ond
sun shode con be screwed on the lens olltogether. The
foresoid sequence however hos olwoys to be observed
(AKARELlE-occessories fit in here, too).
The engoged color filter will reduce the incident light
to o certoin degree. To compensqte this the exposure
time hos to be lengthened or better the obtoined ex-
posure volue decreosed by the exposure volue figures
mentioned on poge 27.
Exomple: When using on oronge filter with extension
foctor 2.5 the engoged exposure volue '13 reduced by
