The new Asahi Pentax is more than just another camera. It's
an entirely new concept in photographic design and capability.
The most interesting of its advanced features is the unique
through:the-lens exposure meter which measures the brightness
of the total image directly from the ground glass. Completely
hidden inside the camera, the Spotmatic’s meter is composed
of two highly sensitive CdS cells positioned beside the view.
finder lens, the meter's resistors are housed under the
shutter dial, and the mercury battery which powers the meter
is hidden inside the bottom of the camera. The only visible
part of the meter is the indicating needle which can be seen
through the viewfinder.

Very few adjustments are required to operate the meter. The
shutter speeds and ASA ratings are directly coupled, and the
adjustment of the diaphragm is photo-electrically coupled

with the exposure meter.

Whether you use the 18mm Takumar Fish-Eye or the 1000mm
super-telephoto Takumar lens, you are assured of correctly
exposed pictures every time because the meler reads only
