PREPARING THE 23C ENLARGER
(Takes about 5 minutes.)
1-Loosen the screw at the top of the lamphouse and re-
move the lamp cap and the +111 enlarging lamp.

2-Raise the lamphouse/condenser assembly to the
8-16-35mm position by rotating the lamphouse/con-
denser knob. (tjg. #3)
3-Push down the upper bellows and disengage it from

4-Open the Iilter drawer and slide out the condenser
assembly and the filter holder and frame. (fig. #5)
s-Unpack the diltusing chamber and slide it into the fis. #6
lower channel of the filter drawer with the light seals
positioned to the lront and back. (fig. #6)

7-Lower the lamphouse lo the 2y4 x 3ya position by

NOTE: The illumination system of the Dichro 23dga
colorhead requires the lamphouse to remain in the
2V4 x 3V4 position for ALL negative sizes.

'l-lnsert one of the nylon grommets all the way into the JN
last louver on the left side of the lamphouse. with its
prongs spreading left and right. (fig. -110)
2-Lower the grommet to the bottom of the louver.
3-lnsert another grommet into the second louver and
lower i'i to the bottom of the louver. (tig. #11)
4-Posiiion a mounting bracket over the grommets and il secure the mounting bracket with two of the bracket
screws. (iig =12)
5-Attach the second mounting bracket to the last two
louvers on the right side of the lamphouse. (As with
the first bracket, the 2nd mounting bracket must be
lowered to the bottom of the louvers.)

REMOVING THE MOTOR.MOUNT SCREWS
l-Unpack the colorhead and open the lamp compart-
ment door by revolving the locking knob 74 turn in a
counter-clockwise direction and lifting up on the knob.

2-Remove and discard the two screws (and the two lock-
ing washers) from the top of the motor mount. (fig.

NOTE: These motor mount screws'are installed as a
precautionary measure during shipping. They must be
REMOVED before plugging-in lhe colorhead!

WHITE LIGHT FOCUSING
The filter retractor lever removes the dichroic fillers from
the light path for easy, "while light" focusing. Pushing
the r€tractor lever away from you moves the filters out
of the light path tor easy focusing. Pulling the lever
towards you, returns the filters to their original position.

UTMP REPLACEMENT
l-Disconnect the colorhead from the transtormer and
open the lamp compartmenl door.
2-Lift up on the lamp retainer to disengage the lamp
from the slight depression in which it rests. (fig. #20)
3-Grasp the neck of the lamp, lift slightly "up" and slide
the lamp forward, out of the lamp mounting bracket.

CAUTION: DO NOT PULL ON THE LAMP SOCKET
WIRES!
4-Remove the burned-out lamD from the porcelain socket
and replace it with a new EJL lamp.
$-Slide the new lamp into position. (Be certain that the
lamo is welFseated in the circular deoression of the
lamp mounting bracket. You will feel it "snap" into
place.)
6-Close and lock the door and reconnect the colorhsad
cord to the transformer.
NOTE: lt is likely that both the light output and the
color characteristics will vary considerably from lamp
to lamp. When changing lamps, you may want to re-
print your "standard" negatives and re-program your
color analyzer to compensate for the characteristics
of the new lamo.
