Congratulationson your choiceof the TOPCON RE-3OOor RE-2OO(as the casemay be) camerawhich should
bring you complete enjoyment of photography becauseof its great simplicity and ease of operations.
The instructionsfollowing cover both RE-3OOand RE-200 which are almost identicaltwins. The principal
differencesare the possibility of attaching an exclusiveAuto Winder-ll to the RE-3OOand thus providing it
with motorized film winding and shutter charging operations, and an additional split-image focusing
spot.
Although operationsare very simple, may we suggest that you read instructionsthrough once before you even
touch the camera,as your pleasurein using the camerawill be greater if you are thoroughly familiar with it.

Finding the Correct Exposure Setting

The exposure measuring and setting system incorporated in the
camera utilizes three light emitting diodes(LED) for giving positive
and highly visible indicationsand thus speeding up operations.

1. The power for the exposure measuringsystem is switched ON
when the shutter release button is lightly depressed, which,
at the same time, lights up an LED along the right border of
the finder's screen area (showing that power is being supplied
and that the system is ready to work).
2. Three LED's are lined up vertically along the right border, with illumination of the central green
LED indicating a correct exposuresetting. On the other hand, illuminationof either red LED's, at
the top or bottom, will indicate over- and under-exposureadjustment and that the exposuresetting
   is not correct.
3. Exposuresetting will be greatly speeded up if a suitableshutter speed is, first, chosen for the subject and,
then set to the camera.lt will then be possible to adjust the aperturesetting for the shutter speed by lightly
depressingthe shutter releasebutton and, at the same time, rotating the aperturering until the green LED
   lights up.
  NOTE
Use the following table as a general guide for shutter speeds to be used, although it must be re-
membered that the choice of shutter speed is not only dependent on lighting conditions but also
on the need for stopping the action of the subject, when there is any movement.

Focusing

 1. The subjectis focused by rotatingthe distancefocusing ring in either
direction until the two halves of the image coincide in the central
split-imagerangefinderand is also seen distinctlyand sharply in the
surroundingfine focus ring. The split-imagerangefinderis specially
good for speedy focusing action. (The RE-2OO has a central

 Depth of Field

 1. The depth of f ield is the zone of "apparent" sharp-
