Setting the film speed
A knurled knob (71 is locoted in the centre of the plexigloss disc
over the scoles. By pressing onto it with the thumb, turn the film
speed disc until the required DIN or ASA figure (8) in the cut-owoy
portion shown is opposite the orrow.
DIN : block bockground with white figures,
ASA : blue bockground with white figures.
As to the film speeds which correspond to the dots between the film
speed figures, pleose refer to the toble on the lost poge of this
booklet.

The volues for the exposure ore set opposite eoch other. The result

The upper scole (3) gives opertures of f/'l lo I/45. The lines between
these give the intermediote operture volues (holf-stops). These corre-

The figure scole (5) denoted clNE indicores the running speed for
cine comeros in fromes per second. The mork between l6 ond 32
corresponds with 24 f . p. s.

lf the setting ring (2) is turned to the right os for os it will go, the

extremely bright light. Hence only the shorlesl exposure times given

The meter is reod in the some woy when higher or lower film speeds
ore used. When, hoving meosured the light, you ore deciding which
combinotion of shutter speed ond operlure lo use, it is importont to
beor in mind thot smo ll discreponcies between the octuo I shutter
speed, operlure or film speed ond those given on the comero or
with ihe film moy give rise to incorrect exposure. Test exposures
should therefore be mode to ensure thot the BEWI SUPER, your
comero ond the film you normolly employ oll combine to produce
the best results. You will soon discover whot corrections ore
necessory if you moke one exposure with the settings os given by
the BEWI SUPER, one exposure with the operture one stop smoller
ond one exposure with the operture one stop wider. In some coses
the film speed setting os determined by o test exposure moy be
different from thot given on the film corton, ond here it is the
former speed thot should be set on the meter.

The photo-resistor (CdS cell) hos the property of oliering its con-
ductivity in occordonce with the light reoching it. Depending on the
brightness of light present, the photo-resistor regulotes the current
flowing from the bottery to the meosuring mechonism, ond thus
determines the deflection of the pointer. The photo-resistor responds
to even the feeblest light; this property mokes possible the ochieve-
ment of exoct results even when the lighf is minimol.
The photo-resistor will olwoys function correctly if you moke sure
thot the protective cover is open only during the octuol meosuring
