( a. Attaching Film Back
To attach the Film Back to the camera body, place
the bottom of the film back on the open hinge on the
camera bottom and push the back forward, attaching
back and body. After attachment of back and camera,
the dark slide can be removed.
lmportant: After attachment of the back and body, the
shutter cannot be released unless the dark slide is remo-
ved. Therefore, when you are ready to begin picture
taking after attaching the Film Back to the Camera,do
not neglect removal of the dark slide from the dark slide
slit and insertion into the dark slide pocket, Always make
it a point never to carry the camera, slung over the
shoulder by neck strap or otherwise, with the dark slide
inserted into the dark slide slit as there is the possibility
of the Film Back falling from the camera. With the dark
slide inserted in the dark slide slit, the camera and Film
Back are in a "ready to be detached state," which makes
carrying in this state unadvisable.View original page 9Page 11 · Read text

{ e. With Film Loading Completed, Press the Two Knob
Studs Inward Again, and Replace the Insert into the
Film Back
When replacing the film holder insert, slide the spring
loaded knob studs, retracted when the center knobs
are pressed in,on both the right and left side of the
insert body into the guides on the right and left of
the film back body interior. lf insertion is correct, it
is verified by the center knob studs when they are
released. They will return immediately to their original
position, centered exactly with the white line markers
on the center knob shaft.
lmportant: When the center knob studs do not re-
turn to the correct, centered position, winding gears
will not engage properly, and re-insertion is necessary @
to insure correct film advance.
{ f. Aligning Film Start Mark and Red Dot
Wind the film shutter knob/crank on the camera to
advance the film to the start mark, and align the film
start mark with the red dot on the film holder insert.
As soon the film start mark and red dot are aligned,
discontinue winding of the film shutter knob/crank.
lmportant: lf the leader paper is not taken up when
the film shutter knob,/crank is wound, the film holder

{ i. Advancing the Film to the First Exposure
To advance the film to the first exposure, turn the
manual film winder on the film back in the direction
of arrow indication until "1" is registered in the expo-
sure counter. Exposure counter advance will stop once
"1" is registered ; two or three additional turns of the
manual film winder are recommended, however; nei-
ther film advance nor counter advance will occur. This
completes pre-photography preparation, and photog-
raphy can begin whenever the Film Back is attached
to the camera body.

< j. Film Type Awareness at All Times
After loading the film, tear off the end flap of the
empty film box and slip it into the film type indicator
frame. This will keep the photographer aware of the
exact type of film loaded in a back. This is an espe-
cially effective way of keeping aware of film type when
using more than two film backs.View original page 21Page 22 · Read text
