For amateurs the Veriwide 100 is a new kind of camera. It will take pictures covering an angle
approximately twice as wide as that which is considered normal for other cameras. However,
this is not to say that the Veriwide picture is abnormal, since you are fully conscious of an area
equally large when you look at a scene with your own eyes. The tmth is that the "normal" camera
gives only a slice of the scene before you, while the Veriwide gives you the whole scene. No longer
need you feel that something has been left out. Undoubtedly, you have experienced and enjoyed
the spaciousness of the wide-screen picfure at your local movie theatre. We suggest that you be pre-
parecl to be astonished and delighted when you see your first Veriwide enlargement, particularly if
the print is a large one.
For professionals the Veriwide 100 is a new kind of tool. It will free you from all the drudgery
usually associated with setting up for extreme wide angle shots. You will be enabled to reach for a
cornplete camera, all ready to shoot, just as easily as you formerly reached for the lens alone. The
angle covered by the Veriwide 100 is as wide as you can get, and still retain the linear characteris-
tics of the normal picture. The rectangular shape of the negative is particularly well suited to this
kind of work, since it does away with the need for excessive cropping when used with the majority
of subjects. Moreover, although the Veriwide l0O is not large as professional cameras go, the
negative it furnishes is amply sized, ZYt x SYzrr, It is large enough to permit the making of largest
size prints with astonishing ease and with amazing reten, tion of detail and quality. The Veriwide 100
will be especially useful to the press, magazine and industrial photographer, indeed anyone who
     work fast, yet efficiently.'n',st

Tho lens of the Veriwide 100 is one of the most unique in the world. It covers one hundred
degrees, (measured across the diagonal, of course) keeping lines straight and also allowing a proper
proportion of light to reach the corners of the picture. Its performance wide open (f/8) is truly
amazing since it does all tha,t has been mentioned, while giving, for example, a perfectly sharp
picture from l0 feet all the way to infinity. It is freell' and enthusiastically admitted by the de-
signer of the Veriwide 100, Mr. Frank Rizzatti, that this lens, the Schneider Super Augulon, was
truly the chief ingredient needed to make the camera possible. It is a lens with exbaordinary quali-
ties, and is a product of the famous loseph Schneider & Co. of Kreuznach, Germany.
The Verwide has, in a very real sense, been designed around the Super-Angulon lens. The lens
mount and the focal plane are treated as a single unit, with all machining done so as to achieve a
shicrtly perpendicular relationship between the fftm track and the optical axis. The sturdy steel camera
body can almost be said to be merely a light-tight wrap-around for the fflm. The basic precision
of the Veriwide 100 is, due to the special features of its design, less dependent on the body than
is the case with other ffne cameras. Consequently it will be less susceptible to damage when mb-
iected to the rigors of daily press and industrial work. Double thickness gears and levers complete
r the elements required for maximum life. The Veriwide 100 is manufactured in Frankfurt, Germany
by Plaubel Feinmechanik und Optik, a factory known the world over for the high quality and
       precision of its work
The Veriwidg f00 is fasb easy and simple to use, simpler indeed than any carnera of comparable
quality. Its handiness will invite you to extend yotr picttrre-taking inio ffelds rarely, ii ener,2 touched. But you must begin by

47mm Super-Angulon lens, focusing the Veriwide 100 is
almost absurdly easy. The fuU foorsing scale covers from
infinity to ZYz feet. It can be set to the distance of the
principal object in the conventional manner, or use may be
made of the zone-focusing system. This is much to be pre-
ferred. Click positions are provided at 20 and 6 feet, corres-
ponding to the most generally useful settings. Note that when
set to 20 feet, the picture will be sharp from infinity to 10 fee,t,
with the Super-Angulon fully open. To focus for any other
zone always set the desired near and far distances so that th"y
fall between the duplicate diaphragm figures on each side of
the distance index mark. For example: to set for a range of
4.5 to 20 feet, set the scale so that these figures appear op-
posite identical stop figures on the rear red scale: in ihis
f /LI. Of eourse, in-between positions may be selected when""iu
required. Quite amazing maximum depth shots can be made
by setting the infinity mark ( oo ) opposite f /gz. The sharp
area will extend all the way to ZYz feet.
The Synchro.Compur Shutter:
Speeds: B, 1, Yz, Y*, Ye, l/15, L/30, L/60, l/L25, L/250,

provided, in-between positions may be set by means of the V
marking. The green lever is the synchro-lever and can be set
( M ). for use with either electronic flash ( X ) or flash bulbs
set The green V is to indicate the self-timer position - this is only after cocking the shutter. Self-timer flash shots will auto-
rnatically be made according to X setting only. If it is desired

I to use bulbs with the self-timer, you must use 1/30th sec. or
at": slower speeds. A flash cord connector is provided on the left
side of shutter. Flat reflectors, or better yet, tandem guns
slightly angled away from each other should be used.
      The W-ine Frame Finder:
This is one of the oldest and still most popular ( with profes-
sionals ) type of finder. It gives an undiminished size view
and allows you to see moving objects before th"y actually
come into the picfure. To use: raise the wire frame and the
rear sight to vertical position above the camera. The rear
sight, because of the extreme wide angle covered by the
Veriwide, is used merely to center the eye, You can tfien view
with sufficient accuracy even though you move your eye from
side to side to see the edges. Parallax correction is achieved
by setting the center lever atop the camera opposite the
appropriate distance on the scale. The parallax compensating
device may also be used with the www.butkus.us

Wetzlar, this finder allows you to see the entire field at a
glance. A bright white frame outlines the picture area.
The Bubble Spirit Level
This device is provided as a convenience when using the carnera
for critical work, when all lines must be rendered in their
proper relationship to the picture. For such work a tripod is
recommended, of course. Tripod use will be considerably
facilitated if it is fitted with a Zip-Grip or Rolleifix quick
attachment device. These are instant acting clamps which
mate perfectly to

on the camera bo,ttom. See instructions provided with 4ip-
Grip or Rolleifix accessories. Standard Y*'t-2A tripod socket
is located in the base of the camera..
The Neck-Strap Stude
on each side of the Veriwide are uniquely simPle, yet
immensely practical. They permit instant attachment to the
camera of the same automatic catch neck-strap used for the
Rolleiflex camera.

The Eveready Case
is designed to enclose the entire camera even wheo the optical
finder is in place. It is made of fine quality leather.
A final word
Your Veriwide 100 camera is designed to serve you well and
for years to come. Keep it clean, but avoid rubbing grit into
the lens. The best way to care for the Super-Angulon is to
brush away all grit and surface dust with a clean soft brush.
Occasionally, and in addition, breathe on the lens and wipe it
once around with a clean, soft han&erchief. This will preserve
its sparkling appearance and assure continued fine results.
