The cameraoperateson a 2CR5lithium
battery.
1) Slide the battery cover lock down to
open. The cover cannot be removed
from the camera.
2) Insertthe batteryas shownwith the ter-
minalsfacingtowardthe shutterbutton.
3) Closethe cover and hold it down until
it lockswith a click.
4) Turn the commanddial to " p " or
" O " to check the battery.
The batterycheck symbol(cr ) in the
LCD paneldisplaysthe remainingbat-
tery poweras shownin the illustrations.
o lf nothingis displayedin the LCD
panel,the batteryis probablyinsert-
ed upsidedown.Removethe battery
and re-insertit correctly.

ruin your pictures.Try the suggestedtips
below.
1) Hold the camera firmly in your right
hand.Placethe palm of your left hand
on the bottomof the camerato support
the lens.
2) Keep both elbowsclose to your body.
3) Spreadyour feet apart about shoulder
width for a steadYnaturalstance.
4) Lightlyhold the camera againstyour
nose and look into the viewfinder.
There is no one correctway to hold the
camera. Experiment to find the most
comfortable position. Wheneverpossi-
ble,leanagainsta steadysupportsuchas
a tree,wall,or tableto helpyou keepthe
camera still.

Filmwindingstartsand the f ramecounter
counts up. When the film is completely
wound, the shutter is released once;
however,no pictureis taken.The f ilm car-
tridgesymboland the numberof available

film has not been loadedproperlyand
the shutterwill not release.Reloadthe
f i l m .

Focus Lock
This camera focuses on the subject co-
vered by the focus mark in the center of
the viewfinder.For off-centersubjects,use
focus lockto set the focusand then recom-
pose the pictureas desired.
1) Coverthe subjectwith the focus mark
and press the shutterbutton halfway.
2) Keepingthe shutterbuttonpressedhalf-
way, recomposethe pictureas desired
and then pressthe shutterbuttonall the
way down to take the picture.

Film Rewind
Whenthe lastpictureis taken,the remain-
ing film automaticallyrewindsintothe car-
tridge.When completed,rewindingstops
and the film cartridgesymbolblinksin the
|i??J'?,Hitodeveroptherirmberorethe
end of the roll, removethe lens and turn
the commanddialto "lSO". Pressboththe
exposure compensationbutton and the
partialmeteringbutton simultaneously.

tingsare madeautomaticallyfor four typesof pictures:portraits,landscapes,close-ups,
