lil ..1[ OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Setting the film speed Rotate the inner dial knob (16) until the speed (ASA or DIN) of your film appears opposite the reference mark in the appro- piate window (13) or (14). i$ Selecting the correct sensitivity range ItlIWith sublects illuminated by normal or light sources push the low light/high light range change over switch towards the bottom of the meter so that the yellow mark is seen in the meter range indicator (9). Readings should be taken from the upper High light range scale (6) (see below). When metering dim or poorly illuminated scenes the extra sensitive low light range scale (5) should be used. Push thelow light/High Light range change over switch towards the top ll4lf of the meter so that the white mark is seen in the meter range indicator (9). Light Measurements Reflected Light Measurement. Ensure that the white plastic lildiffuser (2) does not cover the CdS cell window (1). Point the meter towards the subject, tilting the meter suff iciently downwardq used outdoors, measuring avoid sky areas if to it!lwhich would reading underexposure. cause inflate the and Push the operatiJrg button (20) on the left hand side of the meter and keep it depressed until you have noted the:'eading on the light scale you have selected. Note that the white num- bers relate to the Low light range and the yellow numbers relate to the High light range. Once the number which the meter pointer indicates is noted then move the outer dial (15) until the corresponding number around the edge of that dial is lined up with the index (i9). Any combination of shutter speed and aperture opposite each other on the dial will give the same correct exposure. The combination you use will depend upon whether you wish to arrest movement by the choice of a fast shutter speed coupled with a large aperture (small f number) or greater depth of f ield requiring a smallwww.butkus.usaperture (high f number) and a slower shutter speed.View original page 5

Incident Light ly'leasurement
With this method the light that is falling on the subject is
measured. The colour, contrast or brightness of the subject
itself does not inf luence the reading when using this method.
This type of light measurement is especially recommended
when the subiect has excessive contrast. Place the meter in
the subject position and point the CdS cell towards the camera.
Take the reading as explained in the section on reflected light
measurements.
Cine Photography
When using a cine camera the aperture required is shown
against the f raming rate for the camera on thp nino ce ele / 1? \
Exposure value sett:ng
For cameras calibrated in exposure values (EV) readings can
be directly made from the scale in the EV number window
(17 ).
Testing the battery
To test the battery first move the meter range change over
switch (8) towards the bottom of the meter uniil a green
mark appears in the meter range indicator (9). Push the
operating button (20) and the meter pointer (3) should im-
mediately swing to the battery check mark (4) indicating that
the battery is in good condition. lf there is little or no res-
ponse, unscrew the batterv'SltUERcover (21) and remove the battery.Replace it only with a 0IIDE lA^T-TEBY,ry (oi
equivalent). Ensure when pTacrng tRe new i5ii.'&'itr-g bat-
