VIENNETTE 3
Let us begin by demonstratang straightaway how simple this camera is to work.
Your phoio dealer is sure to have ihown you how to insert the batteries, so we shall leave a
description of this operation until later (page 9).
For the time being we shall also ignore special ways of filming, such as with artificial light etc.
Shooting with the EUMIG VIENNETTE 3
O Depress the locking button o! the lid. The lid springs open; now you can adjust the finder image for maximum
visual sharpness for your own eye by turning the eye-
piece mount (range: + 3 dioPtres).
@ Insert the cartridge the right way round into the camera and close the lid. This automatically sets the film speed.
@ Hold the camera by the hand grip so that the switch is
illustration alongside. This automatically switches on the
battery and the automatic exposure control. Sight your
subject through the finder-
@ Press the release-and you are filming.View original page 4Page 5 · Read text

The Film Sensitivity
is automatically set by a notch on the cartridge when this is inserted.
Super 8 cartridges with the following film sensitivities can be used:
Daylight: 15-21 DtN (25-100 ASA)
Artificial light: 17-23 DIN (40-160 ASA)
Manual and Power Zooming
Q Look through the finder and turn the zooming knob forward or back. That way you manually set any
focal length between 9 and 27 mm. (W = wide angle
^ limit; T=tele limit.)(D During filming you can also depress the front or rear
end of the power zooming switch. The servo motor
now automatically and smoothly adjusts the focal
length. This is useful for tracking shots. (See page 8
for depth of field.)
The Footage Counter (Meter right-feet left)
Q fne window in the lid of the camera shows the scale of the
footage counter. This indicates how many feet of unexposed
film you have still left.
r On inserting a cartridge, the footage counter automatically sets
itself to 50 feet (or 15 metres).
After the film has run through, remove the cartridge from the
camera when the red signal in the finder indicates the actual end
of the film - no matter what position is shown by the footage counter.View original page 5Page 6 · Read text
Removing the Gartridge
Hold the camera with the back pointing downwards and press the
locking button Q to make the lid spring open. Allow the cartridgeto slide out into your hand.
Note: The lettering "EXPOSED" must be visible in the film gate of the
cartridge.
When you put the camera down at the end of a shot or place it in the
ever-ready case, the batteries are automatically switched off.
s
The Automatic Exposure Control of the EUMIG VIENNETTE 3 will always select
the correct aperture setting. The finder image provides a visual check on whether the light is
good enough for filming.
The ,automatic exposure control also prevents overexposure. There is no need to use neutral
Finderr-Ilmage density filters. ( voucanrirm lJ

Running Speeds
A sliding switch in the base of the camera sets the running speed.
18 frames per second: normal f ilming speed.
24 frames per second: used for special effects.
EUfUIC sound projectors of the fularkS series for edge striped films work equally well at 18 or
24 frames per secohd. They yield good sound quality even at the more economical running speed
of 18 frames per second.

The Servo-Focus System At each focal length setting the camera automatically adjusts itself to yield a maximum depth of field zone which in every case extends to infinity (@)' The extent of this depth zone at any focal length is directly visible on the focal length setting knob. Example: In the wide-angle position CO anO aperture f F.6you have a depth of field zonlffrom approx. 3%teelto infinity. At the telephoto setting (D ana aperture t/5.6 you have a depth of fieldXne from approx. 11 feet to infinity. The distances shown are measured from the film plane, marked by !I on the right-hand side ofthe camera. For near subject distances use the EUMIG supplementary and close-up lenses available from photo dealers (supplied complete with depth of field table). 8View original page 10
