SPECIAT NOTE REGARDING THE IAST EXPOSUREEXPOSURE
ON THE ROII
When you have reached the last exposure in the
cartridge, the Fi'lm Advance Lever will swing only
partly out, and it will lock in that position. DO
NOT FORCE THE LEVER. This may result in
tearing the film out of the cartridge. Just press
the Film Rewind Button into " in " position. This
unlocks the trigger which can now be advanced
to its full stroke distance.
The fotlowing exploins how to unloqd the film.
After the last exposure, it is necessary to rewind the film
back into its original cartridge. In your FUJICAREX II,
this operation is simple and rapid.
'l . Press in on the Film Release Rewind Button (No.23)again, until it clicks into position. The button will remain
rn until the Film Advance
Lever is operated during the
next loading, when it will
snap out automatically. The
dot engraved on the button
serves as an instant check
the fllm is being rewound,
since the button will rotate
during rewinding.
2. Swing out the Film
Rewind Crank (No. 10) and
rotate in the direction of
the arrolv. When no more
resistance is felt. and the
Release Button stops rotat-
ing, the film is fully rewound.

cartridge. It is best to have
your film processed as soon www.butkus.us as possible after exposure.View original page 13Page 14 · Read text
Hold the camera to your eye and point it at your subject. Rotate the Focusing Wheel (No. 5) with your thumb until your subject appears sharp on the Ground Glass Viewing Screen. As a further aid to focusing, a split-image range-finder is built into the center of the viewing screen. When the camera is out-of-focus, the subject will appear to be split in the middle. Rotate the tr'ocusing Wheel until the subject appears sharp and " unbroken " in the finder. With your FUJICAREX II, you are viewing and focusing with the lens diaphragm wide open at all times for greatest ease and accuracy. The lens diaphragm will automatically stop down to pre-selected aperture at the instant of exposure. Depth-of-field, the area of sharp focus in front of and behind your subject, may be de- termined in two ways before the picture is taken: You may examine depth-of-field visuaily by previewing the picture before it is taken. To do this, move the Depth-of-Field Preview Button (No. 21) fully to the right while looking through the finder (see page 22). Or, you can set your FUJICAREX II for any desired depth-of- field by consulting the Depth-of-Field Tables on Page 23 of this manual.View original page 14

Once your FUJICAREX II has been set for correct ex- posure, the automatic coupling of shutter speed and lens opening will keep it set correctly over a wide range of picture situations. When you rotate the Shutter Speed Selector Ring to set a shutter speed, you will notice that the numbers in the F/stop Window change also. As a faster shutter speed is selected, a correspondingly wider lens opening is set automatically. When you select a slower shutter speed, the correspondingly correct narrower lens opening will be set automatically. As long as you are shooting in the same light, you can switch slow shutter speeds for scenic shooting and fast-action shutter speeds by simply rotating the Shutter Speed ring; the correct f/stop will be set automatically. Suppose you are shooting a scenic color slide, and you set your shutter speed at 1160 second. You set the correct lens opening automatically by rotating the Exposure Wheel until the needle points to the Correct Exposure Indicator. Let us say that the correct iens opening is f/8. Your next picture (in the same light) is of a child running across the scene. You select a faster shutter speed to " freeze" the action: 11250 second. Your FUJICAREX II auto- matically set the correspondingly larger lens opening- f l(-for correct exposure. This useful feature adds great speed and convenience to your picture taking.View original page 16

In addition to automatic operation, your
F UJICAREX II may be used manually.
This greatly broadens your scope as a
photographer, since it permits you to

you press the Shutter Release, the shutter rvill
open, the mirror will move to " taking position "
and the lens diaphragm will close dor,vn to your
pre-set aperture. When you remove pressure from
the Shutter Release, the shutter will close, the
mirror will return to " viewing " position and the
lens diaphragm will open fully. Thus, exposures of
any length may be made. Lens openings must
be set manually, as described in " l\{anual Settings ".
For time exposures, it is best to mount the camera
on a tripod or some other fi.rm support, and to
use a cable release to avoid jarring the carnera.
The F UJICAREX II is equipped with a standard
Tripod Socket (No. 25) and a standard Cable
Release Socket (No. 17.).
Your F UJICARtrX II is equipped with a self-
timer that will delay the shutter release B seconds,
permitting you to get into the picture yourself, or
for any other purpose. To delay exposure, advance
the film and set the shutter, as previously described
by actuating the Film Advance Lever; set shutter
speed and f/stop. Then, move the F lash Selector (LV') lever (No. 20) to position. When you press the
Shutter Release, a buzzing sound will tell you that
the timer is delaying exposure. After B seconds, a
click will be heard, telling you that the picture has
been taken. www.butkus.us

Depth-of-Field is the area behind
and in front of the subject
actually focused upon in which
everything appears sharp. It
varies with the distance at
which the carnera is focused and
also with the lens opening, the
smaller the lens opening, the greater the depth-of-field and
the closer the subject focused upon, the shallower the
depth-of -fleld.
With your FUJICAREX II, depth-of-field may be deter-
mined in two ways before you shoot:
The lens diaphragm of your FUJICAREX II is always
fully open, except at the instant of exposure. This matr<es
for greatest ease and acalTacy in focusing and composing.
After focusing and setting exposure numbers, you may
preview depth-of-field by moving the Preview Button as
far as it will go to the right, and holding it there while you
examine the Viewing Screen. Everything that appears in
sharp focus on the Viewing Screen will be in sharp focus
