   The 0ca Minimum Palmos
                        AIo. 450

is without doubt the most suitable apparatus for
sport and pleasure, press and all high speed work.
. Made of light metal and very compact, the camera
is provided with a focal plane shutter,'which can
be regulated for five different openings, the smallest
being 1/a, the largest 4 cm.
The camera is easily handled and made ready for
exposure in a few seconds. When the camera
is opened, the lens board is held by tvro struts at
the top and at the opposir,e end by the base-board.
The focusing is regulated by the lens mount,
which is helical and on which the distance scale
is engraved. The camera is to small that it can
be comfortably carried in the pocket. The per-
fect quality of the pictures obtained by the new
large aperture Zeiss Tessar lens, permits extensive
enlargement only which critical eyes will be abler exposure from to distinguish a direct
   How to open the camera
Take the camera in the left hand and press
upon button A. The front will then open. Pull down
the bottom board with the right hand and draw
out the lens front until it is caught and held above
by the two struts and below by the board. Now
the camera is ready and focused for "infinity".

The focusing
is done by means of the helical lens mount, which
is turned to the right, until the white mark en-
graved on the ring stands opposite the engraved
number corresponding with the distance from the
lens to the object to be photographed.
Focusing on the ground glass, is carried out by
regulating the shutter on Time (Z). This is done
by pulling out button C and turning it to the left
until the engraved white line*) encounters the
letter Z. Now let the button fall back and set
the shutter by turning button C to the right as
far as it vzill go, a pressure on pin F opens the
shutter.
Open the hood of the focusing screen, examine
the picture on the screen and turn the ring of the
lens mount until the picture is sharp.
Close the shutter by a pressure on pin F.
Close the hood and remove the screen by pressing
with the left hand upon the latch and after re-
moving the screen with the right hand, put a slide
in its place.
Both screen and slides are simply clamped upon
the camera, after having placed the left side into
the grove.
Raise the iconometer and the sight behind it,
draw the cover from the slide and the plate is ready
for exposure.
*) There is an engraved red line quite near the
white - one.

This is used when working with Film Packs.
These are not quite in the same focus as plates,
because of the thickness of the paper which en-
velops them. When working vvith Film Pack
and the ground g/ass is used for focusing, it
becomes necessary to move the number on the
scale,'obtained by focusing, and corresponding
with the distance, after having finished focusing,
from the white line to the red one, to obtain a
sharp picture.
If you want to elude this operation, we deliver
on demand a special focusing screen for Film
Packs, at an extra charge.
The film in the pack generally tends tc' swell out,
either forward or backward. No focusing however
sharp will remedy this, parts of the picture will
not be quite sharp.
It is only by reducing the opening of the dia-
phragm, after having focused with the largest
aperture, that this can be remedied.
The focal plane shutter
is of the self capping type and can be set without
uncovering the plate, if the slide is already opened.
Button C carries the following numbers:
  ,la 1 2 3 4 andtheletterZ.
The 5 numbers signify the five different openings
of the slit in centimetres and Z rneans Time.
To regulate the shutter to one of these openings,
pull out button C and turn it either to the right

or left until the white engraved line is upon the
number representing the opening in question.
Now let it fall back and set the shutter by turning
it to the right as far as it will go.
There is a button D at the side of button C. This
serves to increase the tension of the spring and
consequently to increase the speed of the shutter.
Beneath the metal plate, on which the wire re-
lease may be attached, is a little rvindow, which
shows the numbers 1 to 9 when knob D is turned
to the left, number 9 representing the fullest
tension.
A pressure on the little pin E releases this tension.
When the camera is not in use, the tension must
be released or the spring will weaken.
Time Exposures
have to be made on a tripod. The camera is
furnished for this purpose with two tripod bushes,
one for horizontal, the other for vertical exposures.
The finder
is the well known Iconometer direct view finder
with sight.
Both have to be raised, and the sight must be
approached as near to the eye as possible.
When viewing, the two little holes in sight and
finder must correspond. The picture seen
thus is about the same as the one thrown by the
lens upon the screen.

Directions for using the Changing box

Before loading the box, examine it carefully with
these instructions before you and see that you
are perfectly familiar with all details when entering
the dark room.

To remove the sheaths
Open the box at P by pressing with the finger
nail upon the little pin, and pushing it to the

other end of the slot (to the right). This will
loosen the lid which should be removed.

In order to remove the sheaths, turn the box
right round, pull out the interior rnagazine by
handle D and push it back. Each times you do
this, a sheath will fall out; after having thus re-
moved 3 or 4 sheaths, the remaining ones will
easily tumble out together, when the magazine
is shaken. _slightly
Loading the Box
Load tne 12 sheaths with plates, film side upward,
reverse the changing box again and push in the
loaded sheaths, one underneath the other, through
the opening at P, with the closed part first and
the plate 'vith its ernulsion covered side upward.
Should the automatic recorder F not be standing
on No. 12, pull the inner box to and fro, while it
is yet empty, until this number appears in the
little round hole.
Do not use thick plates, they must enter the sheaths
easily. Reserve the thick ones for work with the
single metal slides. Too thick plates will damage
the sheaths and impede the changing. Having
inserted the 12 sheaths, replace the lid at P and
lock it by moving with your finger nail the little
pin to the left side of the slot.
This pin will only move, when its centre is
pressed inward.
Now close the changing box and push the little
kno.b .B on the mark "geschlossen" (shut).
Pull out the magazine and push it back and the
box will be closed by a flexible blue steel sheath.

To make the magazine 'secure, put the knob -B
on "gesichert" (secured) and it will not open if
handle D is pulled.
The changing (Fig. 5)
The magazine is made ready for the expodure by
pushing first knob.B on "offen" (open) and moving
the interior box once to and fro, as described
before.

Be sure that the interior rnagazine is always
drawn out as far as it wiil go and pushed back
the same. If this operation has been once begun,
it must be gone through. If the interior is only
partly drawn out and then pushed back, it will
damage the sheath and break the plate and the
whole rnagazine may be injured.
                                                                           lt

After each exposure draw out the interior and
push it back, this will bring the exposed sheath
underneath the others. If by inadvertance' one
plate has been changed without having been ex-
posed, operate the to and fro action of the maga-
zine 71 times, and the plate in question will be in
  position again.
The loaded box must be handled with care, and
protected against shocks, to prevent damaging the
  plates.
If, for some reason or other, the changing'is im-
peded, do not use force, but enter the dark room'
" unload the sheaths, examine the box for broken
glass or other obstrr:ctions, try,the changing and
the indicator, examine iiie sher:iir:- whether they
are not distorted, and if everything is satisfactory, ' reload.
To cease using the magazine before all 12 plates
have been exposerl, do not change the last plate ex-
posed, but leave it on the top, put button I] on t'geschlossen" and close the box by the usual
action, which will bring the flexible blue steel
sheath in position to protect the plates.
Now the box may be without fear taken off from
  the ,-: -,rera.
-B When you begin to use it again, push knob
on "open" and begin by the usual to and fro
action, after that the next plate will be in position
  for an exposure.
