         TAKING OF PHOTOGRAPHS
The camera front is opened by a pressure on the button (14)
and the baseboard should then be slightly pulled downwards
in orderto lock it in position, thus ensuring its rigidity (fig.5).
Regulate the diaphram by setting the index (7) against the
different apertures which are engraved on the lower right side
of the shutter front. t

f or rapid setting and f unctioning.
             t. INSTANTAHEOUS EXPOSURES
To set the shutter place the index (10) against one of the
figures shown on the shutter front, these being 1/25th, 1/50th
anO t/100th of a second. Then release the shutter, or, if a
cable release is being used fit this into the socket (13).

             TIME EXPOSURES
To give these, it is essential that a tripod should be used,
this being screwed into the bush (9) for horizontal views or
into the side bush for vertical subiect. Shoufd a tripod not
be available, the camera shourd be stood firmly on a table or
a flat rest, using the base strut (8) for vertical views. Bring
the speed regulating index to the position B, then depress the
releasing lever (12) and the shutter will remain open until
                                                                           Fig. 4

the lever is raised again. In other words, the length of the
exposure is determined by the pressure exerted. lt ls always reiommended that a cable release is used for B exposures
in order to obviate any risk of vibration during exposure.
                                      FIXED FOCUSING
To simplify focusing of the Kinax Cadet it is sufficient to set
the focusing mount and the lens diaphram to their respective
red pointers and in this case sharpness of the image extends
from 10 feet to infinitv. In clear weather a shutter speed of
1,25th second will obtain good results.
                          TAKING OF SYNCHRO-FLASH PHOTOS
To take this type of photographs, we recommend the u-se
of the KINAFLASH. T'his accebsory may easily be fitted'to
the camera by means of the baseboard screw (9) for either
horizontal or vertical views, and the connecting cable is then
fitted to the contact (5) and operations are then carried out
with reference to the table given at the end of this booklet.
THE BEST WAY TO HOLD THE CAMERA
When using the camera at eye fevel, the baseboard should
be held firmly in the left hand and camera gripped with the
palm and fingers. The thumb of the right hand should rest
on the camera body at the moment of release, rest the tips of
the finger, gently and without shaking the camera, on the lever
of the shutter release, or, better still use a cable release, the
plunger and lixed frame of which are held between the fingers.

For each lamp and emulsion there is a number guide giving
the stop and shutter speed which should be used.
Example. Film being used Panchromatic 28o-30o Sch.
                                  Shutter Speed . 1/50 Sec.

The number guide ccrresponding to these datum is 56 in
accordance with the table given above. To ascertain thg stop
to be used it is necessary to divide this number by the distance
in yards at which the subject is situated. For example, if the
subject is {our yards away from the source of illumination. the
stop to be used will be 56 divided by 4 equals F. 14, in which
case, the nearest indicated, F. 11, will be used.
