that, in both origina-l and dupiicare, rhere is a minimum of. any

KODAMATIC SHUTTER
I* o*oER to make the best possible pictures under gready varying
conditions, a camera must have an unusually reliabl e and versatile
shutter. It was with this in mindthat the Kodamaticwas developed.
It is constructedlike a frnewatch-precise to
the last degree, thoroughly dependable,
long-lasting-to challenge successfullf ev-
ery situation in which the photographer is
likely to find himself.
A wide choice of snapshot speeds-seven
in all-is provided : Lf2, Il5, IILO, IlZ5, If 50,
1/100, and 1/fSo or Il2O0 (as listed); besides
bulb and time. A sliding scale controlling the
diaphragm shows at a glancethe speedor rtop ro use in dull , Etuy,
clear or brilliant light. Adiustmenl is rnade in an insranr, ond the
shutter makes the selected exposure with utrnost accuraclr. The Ko-
damatic is supplied on the Special Kodaks (excepr V.P. K.) and helps
to give pictures that are strictly :pecial as ro quality.
DIOMATIC SI{UTTER
'WttNEvER
extreme speed.sare not essential rhe Diomatic shutter
is highly successful. It is modeled after the Kodamatrc and. like it,
has a handy sliding timing scale. Four auro-
maric speeds, If IO, 1125,USOand I/100, besides
the usual bulb and time, enable the user to fit his
exposure accvratelyto the light.
The Diomatic performs with all the sure pre-
cision expectedof quality equipment, for it is
designedand assembledwith the samecare that
chatacterizesthe more pretentious Kodam atrc.
KODEX SHUTTER

with bulb, time, and autom atic speedsof IlZ5 and

the group of shutters found on the various rypes
of Eas tma.n cameras.

AN IGW[ATS
.frt fffifis
Tr" anastigmat stands at the peak of photographic lens design. Be-
causeof high cost, however, it was formedy avallableonly on equip-
ment beyond the reach of the averagr-amatour. It remained for the
EastmanKodak Company-one of whose plants is devoted almost ex-
clusively to lens rnanufacture-to reduce costs to such an extent that
now almost anyone can afford one of these splendid lenses.
TRUE ANASTIGMAT QUALITIES
Kodak Anastigmats record vertical and hoizontal lines in the
sameplane with an eqrsaldegreeof clearness. They have an essential-
recorded with critical sharpnessto the veryl Iytail[Iatin field-eventhe same planewhenis they are used at their widest openings all de-
I edgesof the negatle.
I And they have all the speedfor which this type of lens is noted.
The Kodak Anastigmat f .7.7, aside from its other advantagesover
the rapid rectilinear, is somewhat faster. The f .6.3 is sixty per cent
speedierthan the rectilinear, making snapshotspossibleunder condi-
tions that would be out of the question for am ordinary lens. The
f.5.6, in turn, is one quarter again as fast as the f .6.3. and the f.4.5
admits half agatnas much light as the f .5.6.
FEATURED ON MODERN KODAI(S
These superior lenses, the equals of any anastigm ats made any-
where, are a prominent f.eatureof all the Modern Kodaks. They offer
a wide selection of fast lenseswhich enable the amateur to make-
easily and at low cost-pictures that would have been thought im-
possiblea few years ago.
KODAR LENS I,7,9
Ttt" Kodar f .7.9, a recent Eastman development, is a semi-anastig-
mat. It is only a tnfl.e faster than the rapid rcctrlinear which it re-
places, but it approachesthe anastigmat in defining and covering
power and gives negativesof consistendyhigh quality.
I(odar lensescost but little more than the rectilinear type and are
I fully worth the small difference.View original page 11Page 12 · Read text

by ^ Kodak Porcrart Attachment the camerais adapted to the making
of charming "close-ups" of your famlly and friends, zs well as clear-

It's all very easy, too. The attachment is quickly slipped over the

Using the Kodak {orcrait Lttichment simply keeps
the focus sharp at close range and results Ln Lmages
that practLcally fill the area of the negative.
KODAK COLOR FILTER
Tru Kodak Color Filter is valuable in photo-
graphing highly colored landscapes,flowers, art
obiects, etc. The dye in the filter holds back the
strong blue and violet r?ys; which affect the nega-
tive most quickly, and gives the weaker shades
time to register. The resulting picture reproduces

t# KODAK SKY FILTER
B*rort clouds in a blue sky reflect a much gteater proportion of
light than the rest of an outdoor view. The Kodak Sky Filter is in-
tended to reduce this difference. The uppet half of the
filter, stained yellow, holds back the light from the
sky. This restrainedlight rendersthe cloudsdistinctly
while the darker portions of the picture get the bene-
fit of full exposurethrough the clear half of the filter.
This filter slips rcadlly over the camruralens and does
not require any changein the timing of the exposure.
KODAK DIFFUSION PORTRAIT ATTACHMENT
T"" portrait photographer often usesa device that diffuses the light
as it passesthrough his lens, in order to get the popular "soft focus"
effect.By this meanssharp contrasts are reduced, chalky highlights
are softened and harsh lines are blended, yielding genuinely artistic
results.
By slipping ^ Kodak Diffusion Portrait Attachment over your
Kodak lens you can get the sameresults in making close-ups.The at-
tachment not only keeps the sub]ect in focus at close tange but also
gives the pleasing effect of softness, without danger of exnemediffu-
sion or "fuzzLness."
The V. P. K. Diffusion Disk used with the V. P. K. Specialand
V. P. K. SeriesIII, f .6.3lens, is suitable for portraits at 5rf feet and
beyond, and also for landscapework.
KODAK PICTORIAL DIFFUSION DISK
A Kodak Pictorial Diffusion Disk does for
landscapepictures what a Kodak Diffusion Por-
trait Attachment does for "close-ups. " It lends
a pleasing softness, without loss of brilliancy,
and gives results that arc artistic as well as dif-Ii ferent.
The V. P. K. Diffusion Disk is a simil Lr at-
tachment.
Thesedisks slip on or off the lens mount in an
instant and their use does not involve any change in camera operation.
