Make flash picture
ITNAPSHOTS at night, either indoors or out, can be
made with the aid of a Brownie Flasholder for the
Brownie Reflex Camera and SM or SF flash lamps. Each
lamp yields a single flash which lasts t lzooth of asecond.
Load the camera with Kodak Film 6zo (black-and-
white or Kodacolor Film Type A).
Attach the Brownie Flasholder by sliding the
forked end of the bracket over the metal pin in the
Iower left side of the camera) and engage the pin on
the top of the camera in the hole in the rop of the
bracket. Llnhook the cord from the clip on the top of
the Flasholder; then plug the cord over the Flasholder
posts on the lower right side of the camera. Be sure
the cord does not come in front of the lens.
Install the Batteries by
lifting either one of the metal
clips on the back of the
Flasholder battery case and
removing the back cover.
Place two penlite flashlight
batteries in the case so that
their heads point in opposite
directions. Replace the back
cover on the battery case
and make sure both metal
clips snap into position.

Gs this easy way, r r
Synchronization of flash pictures requires penlite
batteries which test at least Zt amperes. Batteries
stored for long periods of time will not be satisfactory.
lnsert an SM or SF lamp in the reflector socket
and give the lamp a slight turn clockwise to lock it. Be
sure the bottom of the lamp base is clean and bright;
if tarnished, rub it on a rough surface.
Check the lamp-to-subject distance according to
the table on the reflector of the flasholder and locate
the subiect in the finder.
(6 Set the Control Lever at the letter I ". For subiects
7 feet away or less, pull out the Close-up Slide.
Press the Shutter Button. This will open the
shutter and flash the lamp.
Remove the used lamp by turning the eiector knob
on the back of the reflector socket.
If only No. 5 or No. 25 lamps are available, push
the control lever to " B ". Make certain no bright
light is in the field of view; press in the shutter
button and release it immediately.
