set the small pointer at that number-
for instance, if the object to be photo-
graphed is about ten feet distant, place
the pointer at the figure t o, and if fifty

the press-button on the side of Catnera

Time Exposures.
To make time exposures, the Camera
should be placed on a Tripod, or other
support, as you r,vill be unable to hold it
still enough in your hands to avoid a
slight blur. Set the shutter as directed
for instantaneous rvork. Pull out the
small time-stop (located just above the
notched metal, plate). Open the shutter
by pressing the press-button. Close by
pressing time-stop.
The Cap.
If preferred, time exposures may be
made r,vith the cap, by lorvering the front
of the Camera on its hinges.
Focusing.
There are three notches for the spring
catch of the ground giass frame-one
close to the rigid fratne, for focusing;
one nearly an inch further back, for plate
and film holders; and one still further
removed, for the roll-holder.

Raise the lid of Camera, press on the
two brass buttons on either side, and
slide the ground glass screen in the notch
 nearest the rigid frame.
Drop the panel in the rear end of the
Camera, and through the aperture you
can see the image on the ground glass,
while you focus by turning the milled
 head at the focusing scale.
 Speed of Shutter.
-fhe speed of the regular Premier
Shutter may be varied from one-tenth to
one-fiftieth of a second, depending on
the notch into which the spring lever is
placed. The greater the tension exerted,
the faster the shutter will work.
 For Slow Instantaneous
,'Exposures, press the press-button, and
while retaining this pressure, make the
exposure by moving the Spring Lever
up or DowN, as indicated by the letter U
-or D, the speed depending upon the
rapidity rvith which the lever is moved.

The Swing Back.
The Swing Back permits the adjust-
ment of the plate to its proper position
(parallel with the subject), should it be-
come necessary to incline the Camera at
an angle, as is sometimes the case rvhen
photographing tall buildings, etc., in con-
fined situations.
The back may be adjusted at the de-
sired angle (it srvings at the center), and
clamped in position by the srnall milled
head placed under the lid of the regular
cameras, and in a convenient position on
the side of the trolding stYles.
When not in use, the Swing Back ma1

indicated by a spring catch.

pressing the small brass button placed to
the right of the Lens, the latter may be
moved above or belolv the center of the
plate. In the Folding Cameras this ad_
justment is made by tr,vo milled heads.
            Celluloid Films.
If Cut trilms are used, the manipula-
tion of the Camera is exactly the same
           as for plates.
,/ Roll of Films.
If the Roll Holder is used, the manip-
ulation is the same, except you do ,rot
require to replace the slide aftet each
exposure, but leave it out until through
for the duy, and you will need only to
turn the k"y to wind a fresh film into
              position.
A detailed description of the Roll Holder
and full instructions for working it, will
be found in the special circulai accom-
          panying same.

          THE F"OLDING PREMIER.
To operate the Folding Premier, merely
lower the front of the Camera, thus form-
ing a bed upon rvhich the camera front
carrying lens and shutter is moved for-
ward and clamped in position by the
              rnilled head.
         The Folding Premier Shutter.
To set for instantaneous work, push
the nickeled lever at the top to the left
(shutter facing you) until a "click" is heard.
The exposure is made by a gentle press-
ure on the release lever at the side.
         Time Exposures.
             Set as directed for instantaneous rvork   ;
then move the small time arm, located
on the left of shutter and projecting at
right angles to same, up as far as possi-
ble. Pressure on the release lever opens
the shutter; a second pressure closes it.
For time rvork always have the spring
controlling the speed at a lorv tension.

        The Speed of Shutter
Is regulated bv adjusting the spring placed
back of the engraved disc, in the various
notches cut in the circular metal plate.
The greater the tension exerted on the
spring, the greater r,vill be the speed of
         the shutter.
         Revolving Diaphragms
Are fitted to all trolding Premier Shutters.
The circular plate placed against the front
board only requires to be revolved to bring
         the various openings in position.
The ma.nipulation of the Folding Pre.
mier, aside from the shutter, is precisely
similar to the regular style, and the re-
marks on the latter apply with equal force
             fo' the former.
