The fully outomotic operture mechonism is so designed thot the lens stops down to the
correcl operture during the instqnl lh'e shutter bulton is depressed ond fully opens once
ogoin when the shutter button returns to the originol posiiion.
This ossures constont brightness for the viewfinder. When the "EE" mork is set off the
index mork for monuol operotion, the fully outomotic operture mechonism olso works.
Here, it is possible to check the depth of focus with the mqnuol operture button.

Preset Aperture Methcnism
The llEXAllOJl lens hos two rings equipped with operture
scoles. The front ring, which is equipped with click
stops, is the preset operture ring, ond the reor one is
the operlure ring. lf the preset operture ring is sel to
the desired operture beforehond, the operture mecho-
nism works in synchronizotion with the reor ring. With
the lens fully opened, therefore, il is possible to focus
the lens on the subiect ond look into the viewfinder so
thot the reor ring is turned to stop the lens down'
