HUTTER AND APERTURE
PERATIO
The KONICA S II is equipped with o COPAL SVE shutter of
lotest design. Not only is there provided o built-in selftimer,
but {ull {losh synchronizotion oi oll shutter speeds is ovoiloble.
Shutter speed is odiusted by turning rhe shutter-speed ring to
bring shutter speed diol reoding in olignmenr with shurer speed
index mork. Shutier speed diol volues ore indicoted os follows:
I {or I second, 2 lor l/2 second, 125 Ior l/125 second, ond
so on. "B" indi cotes bulb setting, ot which the shutter remoinns
open {or os long o9 the shutter button is kept depressed, providing
monuol control for exposures o{ longer durotion thon I second.
Shutterspeed diol should, ot oll times, be ser or the click stop

Whot lhe shutter Does
The shutter serves two purposes :
E Regulotion of lhe omount of lighr for exposure In rhe some
woy thot the operture con be used for reguloting the intensity
of the light reoching the {ilm, chonge of shutter speeo con

{ost shutterspeeds ore used to prevent blurring. The neorer

Whot the Aperture Does
The operture serves two purposes :
E tr regutotes the intensiry of the light used for exposure.
The operture works like the iris of the humon eye, whlch
I opens up when the light is low, ond closes down when the
; light is intense. when the coupled exposure merer is used in
ll coniunction with the operture ring, with zeroi ng in of the
exposure meter needle, the operture opens u.p when the
inlensity of the light meosured by the exposure meter is low,
ond vice verso, outomoticolly control ling the intensity of the
light possing through the lens to the film.
E Adiustment of the Depth of field When the comero is focused
on o certoin subiect, there is o zone, in f ront ond behind
the subiect, wirhin which oll oblects will regisrer shorply
in correct focus. This zone is known os the "depth of {ield"
(q.u.) The smoller the operrure, the greoter becomes the
