How to Toke the Picture
l.-Drow out the lens borrel to the full extent ond turn it to the right so thot
it will go into the seoted position, ond the lens fixes itself in position to
be reody for tok'ng the picture.
2.-Adiust diophrogm to the proper stop (L).
3.-Turn the film winding ond shutier setting knob (A) os for os it will go
t toword the direction of the orrow. This sets the shutter ond brings the next
I frome of the film into position.

i! When the shutter is used either on "B" (Bulb) or ot shutter speeds |rom1l20

6.-After determing the operture of the diophrogm ond the shuttei speed, get
on occurote focus by moving the focusing lever (N) with the left hond os
illustroted in the piciure.
7.-To get the correct focus, look through the ronge finder moving the focusing
lever (N) up ond down until double imoges exoctly lie one upon onother.
When ihe double imoges exoctly lie one upon onother, the lens which outo-
moiicolly ond coniunctively octs with the distonce scole is ploced in the
i proper focusing position, ond is reody for toking the picture.
8.-Then merely oim ot the cbiect through the view flnder ond gently press the I
shutter releose button (B) until you heor the pleosont sound of the shutter

Some Pieces of Suggestion for Picture-toking
x Before putting on the comero lid, moke sure the perforotions of the film ore
properly set in the sprockets.
* Before toking ihe picture, drow out the lens borrel oll the woy forword os
for os it will go, ond turn it to the right until the lens is firmly set in position.
Otherwise, occurocy in focusing for the distonce will probobly foil.* lt is urged thot ihe operture of the diophrogm be odiusted olwoys before
focusing for the distonce for feor thot the odiusting operotion of the diophrogm
gives rotory motion io the lens borrel, occidentolly oltering the focus.
* See thot the film winding ond shutter setting knob (A) is wound os for os it
will go in the direction of the orrow. Otherwise, some fromes of the film moy
not be exposed properly or occurotely when the shutter is releosed.
* lt is importont thot the following operotion be strictly observed :
lo - -View original page 12Page 13 · Read text
www.butkus.us
1) Turn the film winding ond shutter setting knob (A).
2) Adiust the speed of the shutter.
3) Regulote the low speed shutter diol (P).
4) Ser the low speed shutier diol (P) by the mork "20" when o shutier speed of
eigher "B" (Bulb) or foster thon l/20 second is colled for in picture-toking.
* To releose the shutter, press the button os softly ond gently os possible, os o
ierky pressure on the button gives the comerq o shock, moking the exposurehozy.
* The film rewinding knob (G) revolves simultoneously with the film winding
ond shuitor setting knob (A) when the lotter is turned. lf not, the film is off the
toke-up spool.
J, * Should the film winding knob (A) becomes heovier thon usuol before the expo-
t'36!t eiiher beocuse the film is short or becouse sure counier points to the number
you foiled to set the exposure counter ot ihe "0" immediotely ofter looding ihe
comero. do not wind up the film by force lest the end of the film comes off the
cortridge ond becomes impossible to rewind the film bock into the cortridge.
* Before rewinding the exposed film into the cortridge, check the shutter by
trying the shutter releose button (B).
* lt is recommended not to hondle the film cortridge under direct roys of the sun

or strong lights.
* The comero is o precision instrumeht. Be coreful not to drop it or bump it
ogoinst ony objeci, os the precision moy be nullified, even ihough it is solidly
ond strongly mode.
Good Focusing.
There is o vorying ronge of shorpness in focusing on obiect. This is colled
the depth of focus os indicoted by the diol (J). The depth of focus incr€oses
when o norrow operture of the diophrogm is used. For exomple, when the center
of the focus depth scole is ploced ot 9 feet ond diophrogm opening dt F3.5, focus
is shorp from 8 to I 0 feet. When the diophrogm is set ot F 8, o shorp focus
is between 7 to 12 [eet, os shown by the distonce scole (1).
lf the shorpness of neor view of obout 16 feet os well os of distont view
("-" or infinity) is desired, it is necessory to ploce the center of the focus depth
scole ot the 30 feet nick with the diophrogm set ot F 8.
This is the most effective method io get the shorpness of pictures when there
is no iime to estimote the ronge. lf you wish to eliminote o certoin points of focus
in order to give pictures the tinge of distonce, it is olso odvisoble to use this focus
depth scole to good odvontoge. For instonce ; in cose you desire to ploce the

reor of on obiect situoted ot the distonce of 12 feet out of focus set th.e diophrogm
ot F 8 ond the focus depth scole ot " 9 |eet."
How lo Tol<e Accurqte Pictures of Moving Obiects
It is well known thot the focol plone shutter which runs directly in front of
the film is needed to moke o snopshot of the speedy movement of on object. As
the ".Leotox" comero hos o shutter which runs horizontolly, it is copoble of toking
such pictures os moving oirplones, outomobiles, ond the like.
. To toke pictures of speedily moving objects it is necessory thot the shutter
runs in the opposite ciirection to the movement of the imoges reflected on the film.
picture other words, from the moving of In to toke the left, on object ihe right to* position is the comero such In this cose, oll right to hold the it in os il is usuol.
shutter runs in the some direction os thot of the moving obieci, becouse the imoge
reflects itself reversely in the film.
For on obiect running from the left to the right, it is required to turn the
comero up upside down (with o view finder down), ond there is need of holding
the comero lenghtwoys with the shutier setring knob (A) up for photogrophing
oblects moving downrvord such os diving. lf this rule is observed, you will surely
be oble to toke shorp ond occurote pictures without ony distortion.
