Good Focusing.
There is o vorying ronge of shorpness in focusing on obiect. This is colled
the depth of focus os indicoted by ihe diol. The depih of focus increoses
when o norrow operture of the diophrogm is used. For exomple, when the
center of the focus depth scole is plocted ot 9 feet ond diophrogm opening
of F3.5, focus is shorp from 8 to l0 feet. When the diophrogm is set ot F8,
o shorp focus is between 7 lo 12 {eet, os shown by ihe distonce scole.
lf the shorpness of neor view of obout I 6 feet os well os of distont view
(" co " or infinity) is desired, ii is necessory to ploce the center of the focus
depth scole ot the 30 feet nick with the diophrogm set ot F 8.
This is the most efiective method to get the shorpness of pictures when
there is no time io estimote the ronge. lf you wish to eliminote o certoin
points of focus in order to give pictures the tinge of distonce, it is olso odvi-
soble to use this focus depih scole to good odvontoge. For instonce ; in cose
you desire to ploce the reor of on obiect situoted ot the distonce of 12 feet
out of focus set the diophrogm ot F 8 ond the focus depth scole ot " 9 feet."

the film is needed to moke o snopshot of the speedy movement of on obieci.
As the " Leotox " comero Jros o shutier which runs horizoniolly it is copoble of
toking such pictures os moving oirplones, outomobiles, ond the like.
To toke pictures of speedily moving obiects it is necessory thot the shutter
runs in the opposite direction to the movement of the imoges reflected on the film.
In other words, to toke the picture of on obiect moving from the right to ihe left,
it is oll right to hold the comero in such position os it is usuol. ln this cose,
the shutter runs in the some direction os thot of the moving obiect, becouse
the imoge reflects itself reversely in the film.
For on obiect running from the left to the right, it is required to turn the
comero up upside down (with o view finder down), ond there is need of holding lrlr
the comero lenghtwoys with the shutter setting knob (A) up for photogrophing
obiect moving downword such os diving. lf this rule is observed, you will surely
be oble to toke shorp ond occurote pictures wifhout ony distortion.
