An exon:ple of how to use the depth of field indicotor is given below:
It hos olreody been exploined thot exoctly focused distonce con be reod from the position
of the center mork of the depth of field indicotor. Now, os in diogrom, let us ossume thot
the rongefinder is focused on o subiect 5 feet from the comero. lrrespeclive of the
operture, the subiect ot 5 feet distonce will come out shorply. Supposing the lens operture
is set or f/9. Whot will be the depth of field?
Observe the dislonce scole figures opposite the figures 8 morked on the depth of field
scole on the right ond left hond side of the centrol a mork. The mork 8 of the depth
of field scole on the left, points to obout 4 feet on the distonce scole ond the mork 8
on the right points to obout 7 feet. Therefore, the depth of field where it will come
out shorply is from 4 feet to 7 feet. Conversely, when toking the subjects between 4
ond 7 febt, it focused ot 5 feet ond the operture is set of (/8, both subiects will come
out shorply. This relotionship hos been mode into the toble os in poge 29. When the
operture ond the distonce ore known, then the depth of field con olso be obtoined.
