Be sure to turn the switch of the Shutter ReleaseButton to "H'as shown in the top
illustration,to turn the power off. This prevents electrical damage to the circuits.
Set the shutterreleasemode selectorleverto "L" (to turn the poweroff).
Use six "AA"alkalineor lithiumbatteries.
1. Lift the batterycase lock lever,turn it counter
clockwiseand pull out the batteryholder.
2. Insertfresh batterieswith ttre O and O ends
as shown in the drawing.
lBe sure the batteries are placed with proper
polarity
3. Returnthe batteryholderto its case and lock it
byturningthe leverclockwise.Makesureit is firmly
attached.

fnstaflingthe Batteryin the Magazine
The buttonbatterysuppliespowerto the magazine'sLCD when the film magazineis
detachedfrom the camera.When the film magazineis attachedto the camerabody,it is
poweredby the camera'sbatteries.
1. Remove the battery compartment
cover screw.
Use a coin or suitablescrew driver and turn it
counterclockwise.
2. Inserta battery.
Insertthe batteryaccordingto the polarityindica-
tion @ in the batterycompartment,and closethe
battery cover.
Battery used: Sony CR2O32or equivalent
lBe sure to watch correct polarity
*When the magazine is installed onto the body, the power will be supplied to the
magazinefrom the camera body.
'tYou can take shots without installing the battery into the magazine. However, if
you remove the magazinefrom the body, the camera does not indicate film sen-
sitivity or number of shots.
*Tne magazine battery is not equipped with a battery level indicator. When the
magazine LCD panel becomes dark or disappears, replace the battery.As a rough
guideline,the battery should last approx. one year.

BatteriesCare 1. The sealed,new batterywhich is suppliedwith this cameramay have been subjectto storageconditionswhich have reducedits servicelife.Thereforeit is desirableto replaceit with a fresh batteryas soon as possible. 2. Carefullywipe the batterycontactsbeforeinsertinginto the chamber.Failureto do so may resultin poor electricalcontactand consequentmalfunctioningof the camera. 3. Always remove batterywhen camera is not used for a while. Alwayscarry spare bat- teries. 4. Batterylife differs,dependingon type, age, storagecondition,ambienttemperature, frequencyof use etc. 5. Be sure to match the poles of the battery with those shown in the diagram in the chamber. 6. Always keep batteriesout of the reach of childrenand never throw used batteriesinto a fire or exposeto excessiveheat. 7. When going on trips be sure to carry spare batteriesto ensure that the camera will function.Also, as batteriestend to temporarilymalfunctionat temperaturesbelowfreez- ing, when photographingin extremelycold climates,carrythe ExternalBatteryCase. 8. When the batteryis exhausted,remove it immediatelyand replacewith a new battery. Otherwiseaccidentalbatteryfluid leakage may damage the contacts. 9. When you carry spare batteries,leavethem in the originalfactorypackaging.lf they are "unpackaged",be sure to wrap them carefullyin order to preventthem touching each other or any metal objectswhich can cause them to short circuitand become useless.View original page 18

Alignthe whitealignmentdot of the lens (on the
shinyflange)with the camera'swhitedot, fit the
lens into the cameraand rotateit clockwiseuntil
it clicks into place.
*Do not touch the distance ring or other rotating parts during the auto focus
operation.
hen installing a lens, do not press the lens-removing button @.
Removing
While slidingthe lens releasebuttonback @, ro-
tate the lens counterclockwiseuntil it stops and
lift it off.
fter removing the lens from the camera body, protect both ends by attaching
the caps.

Attaching/ Detachingthe Magazine
Installationand removal of the magazine and its dark slide
Unlessthe dark slide is insertedin the magazine,you cannotinstalland removethe
magazine.When the camera batteriesare low or they are not installed,the dark slide
cannotbe removedalthoughthe magazinecan be mountedor removed.
Beforeinstallation
1. Removethe magazineprotectioncap.
Removethe camera rear body cap while putting
a finger into the notch and slide the cap down.
2. Matchthe grooveon the magazinebody cou-
plerwith the holderbracket(lower)of the camera
body and snap the magazineinto the body.

Shutter $afety Retraction
The precisionshutterbladesare made of very thin hyper-duraluminumand could
be damagedif unprotected.Thereforethe camera is designedto automatically
retractthe shutterinto the open positionwhen the magazineis removed.When it
is reattachedthe shutter automaticallycloses and is ready for normal function.
(Batteriesmust be in camera).
Detaching
1. Insertthe dark slideintothe magazine.
2. With your thumbfirst push button@ down and
then simultaneouslybutton@ in. tre magazine
will separateitselffrom the camerabody.
*When the magazineis removed,the shutter
willautomatically open, as explainedabove,
under "Shutter Safety Retraction"
Film winding and shutter release are also
locked.
*A double locking mechanism prevents ac-
cidental detaching of the magazine.With a
little practice you will soon learn howto hold
the magazine with your right hand while
pushing the lower button down and the up-
per button in simultaneously to releasethe

Attachingthe lens
Align the white alignmentdot @ of the lens (on
the shinyflange)with the camera'swhite dot @ ,
fit the lens into the cameraand rotateit clockwise
until it clicks into place.
Setting the Film Speed
The film speed (lSO sensitivityvalue) is the referencefor all exposureand must be set
correctly.lf the set value differsfrom the actualvalueof the film in use, under-or over-
exposuremay occur.
1. Pressthe O (up) button.
When the LCD paneldisplaysinformation,press
and hold the O (up) buttonon the bottompart of
the LCD for morethan 1 second.The ISO indica-
tor will blink.

(up) or 0 (down; button.To lock the speed set-
ting, press and hold the two buttonssimulta-

LoadingFilm in the Magazine
A roll of film can be insertedinto the magazinewhetherthe magazineis installedonto
the camerabody or not.
1. Openthe back cover of the maga-
zine.
Simultaneouslypushdown @ whilepressingbut-
ton @ in.
2.Take out the roll-film insert.
Squeezethe centerblock"645"@ betweenyour
fingersand pull it out.
lWnen you load film for the first time, remove
and discard the protective paper cover
which is attached to the film rails in the
magazine.
3. Set the film type (120 or 22O).
Push and hold the pressureshaft @ locatedun-
der the 645 centerblock.This frees the pressure
plateand permitsit to be turnedand set for either
12Oor 22Ofilm.
*Be sure to align the lock pins with the holes on the pressure plate.The film type
should be displayed on the LCD of the magazinewhen the film insert is loaded.
