Accurate exposure can be obtained quite simply by using a through-
the-lens system CdS exposure meter and observing an enlarged finder
image by installing this CdS magnifying hood on the Mamiya C profes-
sional.

Operating Method 1. Inserting two silver batteries Remove the battery chamber cover (11) by turn- 1_ ? ing it counterclockwise, and insert two silver batteries in the battery chamber. Always wipe fllfllil-__i rl- poles insertboth battery with dry cloth and a l Wthem plus by facing the bat- (+) side both of teries toward the operator. Finally, screw in the battery chamber cover tigl_rtly. 2. Attaching the CdS magnifying hood to the camera The attaching method is the same as that of the camera focusing hood. When turning the visibility adjusting ring (1), visibility is changed according to up-and-down motion of the cylinder. Adjust visibility so that the image can be observed most clearly. The eyecup is a folding type that you pull up prior to using it. 3. Setting the speed on the dial of the lens to be used Turn the shutter speed dial (4\ while slightly pulling it out; then set the same value opposite the index (2\ as the speed (f/number) of the lens to be used.View original page 3

For instance, when using the 105mm t/3.5 lens,
set 3.5 of the lens speed scale (3) opposite the
index (2\, and when using the 80mm t/2.8 lens,
set 2.8 opposite the index.
4. Setting the speed of film to be used with the
film speed set dial
Turn the film speed set dial (6) while slightly
pulling it out; then set the.film speed number
(ASA or DIN) of the film to be used opposite the
index of either scale window (8) or (7).
5. Setting the CdS light-sensitive section in the
center of the finder field
Move the light-sensitive section set lever (9)
until it stops with a click and the word "ON"
appears. Now the light-sensitive section is set
in the center of the finder, the meter switch is
on, and the needle is actuated.

6. Setting the exposure meter needle Meter Needle
On looking into the finder, the exposure meter
needle and an'index mark (6 ) can be observed sensitiveLight-
in the upper portion. While turning the shutter Section
speed dial (4), set the exposure meter needle
in the center of this index. www.butkus.usView original page 4Page 5 · Read text
7. Reading scale values on the dial and setting
it on the lens
Read and choose any combined values of shut-
ter speed dial scale (4) and aperture scale (5),
and proceed with photographing after setting
the lens shutter speed and aperture.
lmportant Points on Using the CdS
Magnifying Hood
1. Since a through-the-lens system is adopted on the exposure meter
of this CdS magnifying hood, exposure compensation when extending
a lens is unnecessary.
However, since an appropriate exposure value delicately varies accord-
ing to the amount a lens is extended, always focus first to ensure the
correct measurement.
2. Since light is measured by the viewing lens, when a filter is attached
to the picture-taking lens, the value read should be multiplied by the
filter factor. Otherwise, it is necessary to measure the light by installing
the same type of filter on the viewing lens as on the picture-taking lens.
When a lens hood is used, pay attention to its reflecting light and to
errors easily arising due to cutting off incoming light.
3. When photometering with the 105mm t/3.5 DS lens (built-in a dia-
phragm in the viewing lens), be sure to set the lens at its fully open
apertu re.
4. When photometering, always set the CdS light-sensitive section in
the center of the finder.View original page 5Page 6 · Read text
To measure other than the image center, move the entire camera and
measure that portion, setting the light-sensitive section on it.
5. When photometering is not performed, always return the light-sensi-
tive section set lever (9) to the original position where the word "OFF"
is visible, thus preventing useless drain on the batteries.
When detaching the CdS magnifying hood from the camera, the battery
source switch (separately installed with the meter switch) is automati-
cally turned OFF. So, even if the light-sensitive section set lever is left
on the "ON" position, useless drain on the batteries is prevented.
6. To perform correct photometering, press one eye closely against the
eyecup to prevent light from entering the finder through the eyepiece.
7. Designed for installation on the Mamiya C Professional, this CdS
magnifying hood cannot be used as an independent exposure meter.

Regarding the Silver Battery
1. Plus (+) and minus (-) poles of the silver
battery are indicated in the diagram, so care- (-)fully check the direction of pole to be inserted.
2. When replacing batteries, purchase the following: EVEREADY 5-76,
MALLORY M5-76, or RAY-O-VAC RS-76G (Voltage: 1.5V).
Although their shapes are the same, DO NOT use mercury batteries;
these are only 1.3V, preventing correct exposure from being obtained.
3. Remove the batteries when the CdS magnifying hood is not to be
used for a long period of time.

4. lf silver batteries are subjected to high temperature, they may ex-
plode. Never discard them into a furnace or flame
To Customers Owning the Mamiya C33/C330
When using the Mamiya C33/C330 with a 55mm or 65mm lens,
use a parallax correction plate for the 55mm/65mm lenses, installing
it on the bottom of the finder:
Set the parallax correction lever of the camera on the 80 graduation.
Attaching Method
Turn the CdS magnifying hooo inside
out. Also turn the correction plate inside
out and insert its chamfered edge in
the two catches on the hood; then f it
the correction plate while pulling out
the slide lock (10) on the opposite side.
When the slide lock is released, the
plate is secured.

Parallax Correction Parallax Correction
When extending the lens, after at- [-
taching the hood to the camera, the
parallax correction pointer will appear
in the finder. When this pointer coin- Pointerll
cides with the figure 1.5 on the left side,
the upper portion from the first line on
the right side is cut off . When the
pointer coincides with the figure 2, theupper portion from the second line is =o iltl
cut off. This is the same at any index
line. (The figures on the left side indi-
cate exposure factors; however, when
photometering with this CdS magnifying
hood, exposure compensation is un-
necessary.)
