How To Use The \
MIL-O
Photo-Electric Exposure Meter
The /vttL-O meter incorPorates a sensitiv-' photoelectric
cell in a s\ock resistant housing. lts simple, f unctional
design guarantees quick reading, accurate exPosure under a
wide'range of light conditions.
To take an exposure reading proceed as follows:
Mark the light sensitivity of the fi lm you use in the rvindow
by turuing the inner time dial.
A. S. A. SPEEb-REd
D. l. N- SPEED-Black
Point the meter facing the subject in the distance of
approximately 1.5 feet. Thenl the pointer of the meter will
rotate strongly or weakly according to the reflecting light.
By turning the outer F stop dial, set to the red mark v the
index indicated on the scale louvre. Thus, you wi ll get the
shutter speed and F stop combinaticn.
Example: When the pointer of the m=ter indicates the
figure eiEht (s) using film with an ASA inJex of loo, s€t
eight (s) to marked v by turning the F dial. Ncw the figures

combination thus: F:8 at t/loo or F : ll at l/5o second
are all correct sebtings,
\flhen the pointer of the meter does not rotate well
under dark conditions of light, insert the booster on the
brck ct the meter. Then, it will be easy to read by ampli-
tying the sensitivity of the meter' ln this case, read the
meter by setting the index indicated on marked Q.
Ditect Reading: Under specific conditicns the MIL-O
is direct reading meter, with the needle pointing to the
proper F stcp without the necessitY to reter to the calculator
dial. vL aB
V/hen using fifm with an ASA index of 50 and t/so
shutter or ASA index of too and t/too shutter or ASA
index of 2oo and l/2oo shutter the meter will read directly
indicating the proper F stoP.
Zero Set Screw Adjustment. ' {
To assure continued ProPer calibrationl the zero set screw
cn the back of the meter is turned slightly with a screw
driver to return the needle to rest at zero when all light is
prevented from reaching the photo cell.
CAUTION: when taking a reading, be sure to hold the
eveready case back so that it does not obstruct the view
o$ the meter.View original page 4From the M. Butkus archive. Original publisher and archive notices are retained.
