MEASUREMENT
Incident Light of Electronic Flash
(1) Screw either Spherical or Flat D,ffuser
into receptorring dependingon measur-
ing purposes. (SEE NOTE.)
(2) When using Spherical Diffuser, point
the FLASH METERtoward your camera
from subjectpositionand push measur-
ing button.
(3) Meter respondsimmediately(10 micro-
sec.) and needle remains at F-number
re a d in g ca lle d for by light volume
measured while the button is kept
dep ressed.
(4) Set the indicated F number on your
ca me ra .
(5) Connect the flash with your camera.
(6) To measure illuminationlevels, set measuringtime at I/30 sec. and
press measuring button to measure light available. Then read
referencenumber below the F number and refer to conversiontable
below.
N O T E :
'F To obtain illuminationvalue, Flat Diffuser should be used.
*i Sperical Diffuser is for ordinary photographicpurpose.

* lf needle remains in red zone at right, decrease light falling on
subject by:
(a) increasingflash-to-subjectdistance,
(b) coveringflash with some translucentmaterial,
(c) giving less measuringtime if there is any ambient light,
(d) attaching ND filter.
x Be sure to keep measuringbutton depresseduntil reading is no longer
needed.
3. Fill-in Light with Electronic Flash
Beforeconnectir\gwith flash, set required measuringtime (and shutter
speed) and use FLASH METER as an ordinary exposure meter (see
bellow) to measure ambient light volume on parts of subject other
than those to be filled in.
Then connect flash with FLASH METER and measureflash light volume
on the parts you want to fill in. lncrease or decrease flash light
falling on subject until required F number is obtained on scale.
4. Bulb Flash Light
Set measuringtime at 1/30 sec. when using other than FP-classbulbs.
Other procedures are the same as when using electronic flash.
5. Wireless Remote ("Slave") Flash
FLASH METER can also be used for ordinary operationwith multiple
or "slave" flash units in the same way as describedabove.
6 . an Ordinary Exposure Meter
Make sure measuring time selector and camera sh utter are set to
same speed. Then push measuringbutton and set your camera to
F number indicated.

ND Filters
These filters are used when indicator needle remains in right red
zone of scale, showing that there is too much light to measure'
* For incident-lightmeasurement,remove
diff user and screw in glass-type N D
Filter instead. Then screw the diffuser
onto the ND Filter ring.

the CdS-cell window of the receptor-
viewfinder.
Since these ND Filters have a 4 EV

equivalent of 4 stops' exposureto the
value shown by indicator needle or set
ASA number 4 steps higher than that
of the film in use and use F number
thus indicatedby needle.
2 . Pin-Point Receptor
This receptoris used primarilyto check
subject light distribution on camera
ground glass.
( 1) Slide Accessory Connector Shoe onto
FLASH METER accessory bracket.
(2) Connect Pin-Point Receptor cord with
the connector.

(3) Place receptor in contact with ground
glass over part of subject to be
measuredand push measuringbutton.

referencenumber below the F number.
( 4 ) Then determinef inal exposureby refer-
nng to conversiontable supplied with
Pin-PointReceptor.
( 5 ) To make most accurate and effective use of this accessory,it may
be necessary to determine actual exposure by experiment, since
variousground glasses have different transmissioncharacteristicsfrom
the standard used to formulate this table.
3 . Micro-Disk Receptor (1 H or 2H)
This receptoris mainly intendedfor use
when light is too weak for measure-
ment with FLASHMETER'sincident-light
receptor. lt can also be used to find
illuminationlevelson small subjectareas
for various purposesthrough reference
to the conversiontable.
( 1) Slide Accessory Connector Shoe onto
FLASH METERaccessorybracket.
(2) Connect M icro-Disk Receptorcord with
the connector.

FLASHMETER
( 3 ) The 1 H Receptor is 4 EV more sensitive than the incident-light
receptor on FLASH METER and the 2 H Receptor is 5 EV more
sensitive. Therefore, subtract an appropriate number of stops from
the number indicated by needle or set ASA number an appropriate
number of steps lower than that of the film in use.
(4) To measure illuminationlevels, set measuringtime at 1/30 sec. and
press measuring button to measure light available.
Then read reference number located under F-numberscale and refer
to conversiontable shown in page 7.
