Your Minolta Pocket Autopak 460Tx is one of the most versatile and convenient cameras
available. Simply sliding its lens selector between ,,NoRMAL,, and ,,TELEpHoTo,, changes
the camera's lens to either a high-quality standard or telephoto Minolta lens. Finder magnifi-
cation is also changed automatically for proper viewing. No.11O cartridges make film
handling effortless, and setting film speed is unnecessary. A fixed high shutter speed of
1/2OO sec. helps guard against pictures blurred by camera or subject movement. When there
is not enough light, the camera tells you to adjust exposure or pop out its built-in miniature
electronic flash. Turning on the flash illuminates the focus-symbol panel to help you focus
correctly in even the darkest situations, and the Autopak's flashmatic system automatically
adjusts the lens aperture for proper flash exposure by focusing. As an added convenience,
both flash and exposure warning systems are powered by a single battery.

To install this:
1. Open the battery-chamber cover by sliding it down and lifting it as shown (F).
2. Insert a battery as specified with the plus (+) end out as indicated inside the battery-
chamber.
3. Close the cover by sliding it first in the direction of the arrow (H-1)and then pressing it
down and back towards the camera until it clicks shut (H-2).
CHECKING THE BATTERY
The battery should be checked immediately after inserting and from time to time
thereafter, especially before starting on trips or taking important pictures.
To do this:
1. Operate the film advance with your right thumb to cock the shutter and make sure the
lens-cover is completely open.
2. Covering the sensor with your finger (being careful not to leave f ingerprints on the glass),
depress the shutter release slightly (l). lf the audible warning and red lamp in the finder
come on, the battery is serviceable. lf not, the battery should be replaced
NOTE
o To avoid the possibility of excessive battery drain from the finder lamp and audible I
signal, keep the lens cover closed when not taking pictures.
o For taking pictures without battery, see the note on page 10.View original page 12Page 13 · Read text

LOADING AND ADVANCING FILM
1. Slide the latch toward the finder eyepiece and open the back cover (J).
2. Insert the film cartridge into the camera as shown (K).
3. Latch the cover shut.
4. Use your right thumb to operate the film advance repeatedly until it locks (about
3 strokes) (L). A series of 1's should be visible in the filmdata window (E-18) to indicate
the first ex'osure'
6r+il.4 irJ S
NOTE
o The shutter release cannot be depressed unless the film advance has been operated until
it locks.
o Your camera is designed to use films with speed ratings from 64 to 4OO ASA.
o After each stroke, the film-advance slide should be allowed to return completely to its
rest position before operating it again.
CAMERA CORD
A handy cord is furnished with your Pocket Autopak (T). Attached to the cord eyelet
lE-21l, on the camera, this provides carrying convenience and safety. lt can, for example, be
placed around your neck to keep the camera handly or to prevent its falling from a shart
pocket. Be careful to keep the cord behind the front of the camera when taking pictures.

LENS.COVER SLIDE
When this built-in sliding cover is closed, it protects the lens-cover glass, and locks the
shutter release.
To open the cover, slide it towards the flash as far as it will go as shown (M).
The shutter release cannot be depressed unless this slide is completely open.
NOTE
o Keep the lens cover closed when the camera is not in use.
VIEWFINDER
Looking into the eyepiece of your 46OTx (E-20), you will see the bright-frame viewing
guide (U-1). What you can see inside this frame is the approximate subject area foreither
the normal or telephoto lens focused from infinity down to 1.bm Subjects closer
than this should be framed within the two short parallax-correction marks near the right
corners of the frame (U-2) .
The red lamp at the right side of the finder (U-3) lights in addition to the audible signal
for low-light warning, and pulsates to indicate recycling when the unit is used in flash
operation.
CHANGING LENSES i
Sliding the lens selector of your Pocket Autopak 460Tx (D-21 all the way to the left or
right changes the camera's lens to either a "NORMAL" (26mm) (R) oT "TELEpHOTO"
(43mm) (S) lens, enabling you to adjust subject image size and composition without changing
position. Finder magnification is also changed for proper viewing.View original page 15Page 16 · Read text

FOCUSING
Distance-scale focusing for either the normal or telephoto lens of your Pocket Autopak
is by a convenient slide on top of the camera (N) . For sharpest picture, simply move this slide
so that the index points to the appropriate distance setting for your subject.
Depth-of-field tables (C) indicate the exact focusing range forthe normal and telephoto
lenses at each distance scale and exposure-control setting.
TAKING PICTURES (WITH EXISTING LIGHT}
1. Makesurethefilmisadvancedandthelens-coverslideiscompletelyopen(L)(M).
2. Select either the NORMAL or TELEPHOTO lens and set focus for the proper subject
distance (R)(S).
3. Hold the camera horizontally or vertically in a comfortable way so it is steadied against
your face and will not move when you take the picture. Both hands and the camera cord
should be kept behind the front edge of the camera (A) (B).
Compose your picture within the bright-frame viewing guide (U-1).
5. When not taking flash pictures, start with the exposure/function control set at the sun
symbol (O-3).View original page 16Page 17 · Read text
6. Depress the shutter release slightly. lf the audible warning and red lamp at the right in
the finder do not come on, hold the camera steady and continue to squeeze the release
all the way down to make the exposure.
lf the audible signal and red lamp in the finder come on, move the exposure/function
control to the cloud symbol (O-2). lf both signals stillcome on when the shutter release
is depressed slightly, existing light is too low for proper exposure, and you should move
the control left to the f lash symbol (O-1 ) and proceed as explained below.
NOTE
lf the battery is unserviceable or not installed, neither the red lamp in the finder or the
audible signal will come on and the built-in strobe will not charge. In this case, however, you
can take pictures by setting the exposure/function control to the sun symbol for subjects in
bright sun, to the cloud symbol for cloudy-bright conditions.
FLASH PICTURES
1. Slide the exposure/function control (D€) to the flash symbol (P). The built-in electronic
flash will pop out from the end of the camera and start charging if a serviceable battery
is installed (O). When the flash pops out the illuminated focus-symbol panel (D-12) on
top of the camera will light up to aid you in low-l ight situation.View original page 17Page 18 · Read text
www.butkus.us
2. At the flash symbol, the red lamp in the finder will come on when the shutter release is
depressed slightly (U-3). When this and/or the flash-monitor lamp on the back of the
camera starts to pulsate (o-1 ), the camera is ready to take flash pictures.
3. Making sure that your subject is within the flash range indicated on the bottom of the
camera for the film type in use, set the focus slide for the distance from camera to subject (E-13).
4. Compose your picture in the viewfinder.
5. Hold the camera steady and squeeze the shutter release all the way down to make the f lash exposure.
NOTE
o Pushing the flash all the way in turns it off, stores it, and returns the exposure/function
control to the cloud symbol. Do not attempt to move the control from the flash symbol
otherwise. Keep the flash pushed in to save battery power when not using it.
o lf a flash exposure is made when the finder/monitor lamp or the flash-monitor lamp are
not pulsating it will probably be underexposed.
o lf the finder/monitor lamp does not come on within 30 seconds after the flash is popped
out, the battery should be replaced with a new one.View original page 18Page 19 · Read text
