   Congrotulotions! You now own o fine Minolto Repo S holf-size comero. This comero
gives you 40 exposure from o 20-exposure  roll; 72 exposures from o 36-exposure
roll.  There is o built-in exposure meter thol helps you set lhe comero in one simple ope-
rotion. lf you never used o comero before, know nothing obout its operotion, you'll
find the Minolto Repo S eosy, occurote ond foolproof.  Before using the comero,
however, pleose reod this monuol corefully so thot you moy utilize oll ihe feoiures of
your new Repo S.

SETTING THE CAMERA FOR CORRECT EXPOSURE  >
                      HOW TO SET THE ASA FILM SPEED
                                          Before toking pictures you must set ihe ASA
                                               film speed roting of the film you ore using.
                                             You'll find ihis roting in the film inslructions.
                             On the bottom of the lens borrel you'll find
                             ASA rotings   'f rom 25 to 800 (ond comporotive
                                DIN rotings). Press the button ond turn until lhe
                                      proper number is oligned with ihe index.

PRECAUTIONS IN TIEASURING LIGHT
 I .  When phoiogrophing people, lhe light should be meosured os neor the
     subiecl os possible. Set the comero. Then return lo the position you
     prefer for you piclure.
2.  When photogrophing  londscopes, core should be token so thot you do nof
    meosure the extremely bright reflecled lighl from sun. sky, beoch, etc.
3.    lf  light is loo bright ond you connot properly olign the index with the
     needle, odiust the shutter to o foster speed. The some is true when the
      light is very dim. You moy hove lo odiust lhe shuller to o slower speed.
4,    lf you use o filter, it's best to moke on odiustment in your ASA selting so
     thot the exposure meler con toke inlo occount the foct lhot less light is coming
     inlo the lens. For exomple,  if you ore using o l00ASA film with o filter
     thot hos o correclion foctor of 2, reset lhe ASA diol io 50.   lf you hove
   o filter correclion foctor of 4. reset the ASA to 25 ond so on.

DEPTH.OF-FIEtD
  The depth-of-field of o lens is the distonce
ronge wilhin which everything is in relotively
shorp  f ocus. This ronge vories wilh the operture
opening. lt is greotesl when the lens is closeo
to  its smollest point (f l6) ond leost when
 it is fully open (f 1.8). The photogrophs here
help illustrote the relotionship between operlure
opening ond deplh-of-field.

Becouse the Rokkor lens in this comero

iicol focusing is not necessory. Simply
estimote the dislonce between comero

(3 feet) or  less, however, require
occurote focusing.

  Look through the view finder ond you

fference between whol ihe lens '/sees/'

  The comero moy be held horizontolly or
verlicolly. lt is best to press the comero
firmly ogoinst your foce ond releose lhe
shutter with o slow pressure in order to
prevenl oll movemenls ond insure shorp
negof ives.  lt is odvisoble lo use the right
eye for viewing. This leoves your hond
free to odvonce the film odvonce lever
quickly. The film odvonce conloins o double
exposure prevention device; the shutter
locks ofler eoch shot.

    When you hove finished the film roll, you
    will nof be oble to odvonce the lever.  (Also,
   lhe outomolic fllm counter will point to either
   40 or 72 depending on the length of the film
   you ore using.) Do not force the lever or
   lhe fllm will leor out of the mogozine.
    You must rewind the film bock into the
    originol film mogozine in order to unlood the           Push in the rewind releose
