PRECAUTIONS ON EXPOSURE MEASUREMENT
The CdS exposure meter of Miranda G Meter is
of the reflected light type, which calculates the ex-
posure by measuring the brightness of the subject.
acceptance angle is - designed for 40o, which Th. gives accurate exposure by simply measuring from
the shooting position in ordinar)' cases. But depend-
ing on the subject, the following methods can be
used.
1. Measuring the Brightness of l{uman Subjects o
If the subject and background have the same
brightness, measuring from the shooting position
gives satisfactory results. But if the background is
much brighter, such as a snow scene, open sea or
open sky, come as close to the subject as possible
and measure the brightness of the face. Be careful
not to let the carnera create a shadow on the face.
2. Measuring Backlit Subjects In against-the-light shooting, if direct light enters jr
the light acceptance window, the meter will read too
high and cause bad under-exposure of the subject. In
such a case, come close to the subject for measuring
and also take care that no direct light enters the light
acceptor. If impossible to avoid this light entry,
measure the exposure in normal light and give 2 to
4 times longer exposure. This method of measuring
under against-the-light conditions can be used for
both human subjects and landscapes.

RECEDING QUICK-RETT,'RN MIRROR

,rr., a large-sized miiror of new dgli*t which unlike other
SLR carneraseffectively prevents all mirror cut-offs (upper
part of viewfinder field'becoming dark and invisible), even
when using super-telephoto^of lenses.
O Prevent"iott mirror cut-off is an outstan4i"g feature
of the MIRANDA G and permits composing with the entire viewfinder field at all times. II

Quick-Return Mechanisrn
The mirror is of course the quick-return type which
causes an extremely short viewfinder black-out during
shutter action. Due to its original construction, the mirror
mechanism on MIRANDA G is particularly quick-acting
and the viewfinder black-out at shutter speeds 1/15second
or faster lasts no longer than the blinking of an eye.
O The coupled action between the automatic diaphragm
and the mirror too is very smooth, So that when the
shutter button is pressed:
(l) The diaphragm closes down to the preset aperture,
(2) Almost simultaneously the mirror swings up while
receding backward,
(3) Followed by opening of shutter blinds and film
exposure,
(4) Then, shutter doses, mirror returns to normal
position and lens diaphragm re-opens fully,
All the above actions are instantaneous.View original page 30Page 36 · Read text
