When the camera i s focused on a pi cture- subj ect , there
is a zone in front of and behind the picture-subject.
whi ch i s sti I I i n acceptably sharp focus. Everythi ng
outside of this zone becomes progressively out of focus.
Thi s zone of acceptable sharp focus i s parti cul arly
i mportant to begi nners when f ocusi ng at very close
di stance. For i nstance, when you shoot the subj ect ,
di stance 8 f eet , uSi ng I ens aperture f 2.8, "Depth of
F i e l d" i s b e t we e n 7 .5 feet to 9.5 feet and us i n g f . 1 6 ,
'tDeptb oI Field" will be between 5 to 2g feet.
HOW TO SET A CABLE RELEASE
Take the cabl e rel ease ri ng off by turning it counter
clockwise, and then attach a Lei ca-type cabl e rel ease as
shown i n photo.

Set your change lever M or X position depending on
'what kind bul b used. The normal posi t i on of the change
lever is X position, so after using M position the lever
will automatically returns to X position. If you set
the lever at M position when x position required by
mi stake, do not push i t back to x posi ti on wi thout
pressing the shutter button.

Each successive higher F-stop number means an approxi-
mately 50% decrease in lisht transmission so that for
picture taking between 900-1100 hours and 1400-1000
hours you should use one lower F-stop number or slower
shutter speed from the above guide.

Finder :
Direct Focus Coupled Rangefinder (Patent pending).
Camera-to-subject distance is automatically set by
rotating the focusing lever, thus turning the front
lens, which is directly coupled with the rangefinder
by means of a connecting bar passing through the
shutter.
Self cbcking & Film transport lever :
Two strokes of lever advances film . . . . counts
exposure . . sets shutter. The double stroks pro.
duces smoother operation and is easier on the film
than comparable single stroke system.
Body :
Made of light, diecast metal and covered with genuine
black leather. All exterior metal parts feature a
satin finish.

Open the back cover of
the camera by pul I i ng down
the lock as shown in photo.
Pull up the film rewinding
knob and place the fi lm
cartridge in the f ilm cham-
ber. Press down the re-
w i ndi ng knob wi th a sl i ght
turn to the right or to the
I eft to engage the fi lm
spool inside the cartridge.
Pull out the film leader
about 4 inches from the
cartridge towards the f ilm
take-up spool at opposi te
side. Insert the leader into
slit in film take-up spool.
Turn the take up spool
slowly by one or two stro-
kes of the fi lm transport
I ever unti I the sproket
wheel securely engages the
perforation in the f ilm, and
then close the back cover
of the camera.
Advance the f i lm two fra-
mes, pushi ng the shutter
rel ease button each ti me.
Advance f i lm once more,
do not push the shutter
button this time.

TAKING PICTURES

speed of movi ng subj ect, the ki nd of fi lm used and
prevailing light conditions. Use the exposure guide on
this sheet. It is recommended that a photoelectric
exposure meter be used when shooti ng col our f i lm.
Hol d your camera as shown i n pi cture then f ocus by
rotating the focusing lever.
HOW TO OPERATE THE
RANGEFINDER

Place your eye at the finder eyepiece and aim at the
subj ect. In the center of the fi eld of the finder, you
see a square area in which there is a double image of
the subj ect . Rotate the f ocusi ng I ever unti I the two
i mages are merged i nto one ( see pi cture above ) . The
