shutter is set for the next expcsure. Ccnseq-
uently, double expcsure is prevented. However,
intentionol double exposure (or superimposition)
is feosible by following the instruction given Fig. 8

The sfow shutter speed diol is used when shuftlr speeds oI 1ll5 to I sec. ore to be ufifized, or
when o " Time " exposureis to be mode.
(l) Before setfing this diol fo the desired figure, give the winding knob q full turn, ond set the
high shufter speed diol to 25-1, fhen, set the slow shutter speed diol to the desired
f igure.
( l l ) T he slo w sh u t t e r speed diol is equipped with cl l o c k which locks the diol into position when
it is set ot 1125 sec. In order to move this diol,
press the button locoted on top of the diol.

(lll) In order to moke q .' Time " exposure, set the
tt diol to T " by closely following the instruction
given in porogroph (l). When the shutter releose
is pressed, the shutter will open. lt will remoin
open even when the f inger is tqken off the shutter

The depth of field con be determined by observing the depth of field scole locoted on the leni
borrel, ond fhe distonce scqle. After securing focus, reod the figures on the scole fo determine
the depth of field. On this scole, we find, from one cenfe;' index mork in either direction fhe
some figures which ore identicol with those on fhe iris diophrogm scole. Theie figures, in connec-
tion with the distqnce scole, enoble you fo reod the depth of field for the desired lens opening.
The depth of field is the diifonce between the neorest ond the forthest points in which oll
obiects will oppeor occeptobly shorp in the phofogroph when fhe leni is focused on o certoin
subiect. This depth of field is greoter in the bockground thon in fhe foreground, ond if becomes
greoter os fhe lens opening is mode smoller. Even with the some lens opening, the depth of field
becomesgreoter if the lens hos o short focol lengfh, ond becomes smoller if the lenr hos o long
focol length.

( t ) As shown in Fig. 16, hold the comero in the right
hond with tip of the index finger resting geni ly
on the shutter releose. Hold the other side Af
the comero with the left hond, ond, with the
index finger, operote the lens focusing lever.
The lens focusing lever is equipped with o cotch
which locks the rongefinder ot the position q{'
infinity. In order to releose the lever from the

In oddition to the distonceindex mork, oll Nikkor lenseshove onother index mork with the
leiter R. Thii index mork is used in coie of infrored photogrophy, or, in ofher words, when
exposuresore to be mode utilizing qn infrored film ond filter. In cose of infrored photogrophy,

To interchongefhe lens, hold the comero i:irmly with the leff hond, ond, by tirmly cotching
the lens focusing lever, turn the lens bqrrel in q left motion, The lens comes off the cctmero
body ofter the lens borrel is turned two revolu-
tions. Then, mount the interchongeoble lens. Do
not interchonge !ens under direct Iight. The
interchongeoble lenses which ore presently sold
on the morket qre shown in onother section of
this pomphlet.

moinfest their copobilities to the fullest, the Fig. -"6
use of Nicco filters is recommended.
Before using, wipe the filter with o cleqn
cotton cloth sooked with olcohol. This will
