Thankyou for purchasingthe Nikon BatteryPack MB-17.The MB-17
is an externalbattery pack exclusivelyfor the Nikon F65/F65D,N65./
N65QD*camera body and can accommodatefour 1.5VAA-type
alkaline-manganese,lithium,NlCd or Ni-HM batteries.Especiallywith
AA-typelithiumbatteries,the MB-17 increasesthe usablenumberof
film rolls per battery set and provides stable performanceat low
temperatures.Note that the film advancespeed of the F65/F65D,
N65/N65QDin continuousshooting (e.(s Sports Continuousmode)
does not increasewith the MB-17.
Beforeusingthe MB-17, be sure to read this manualthoroughly.We
also recommendthat you keep this manualhandywhen usingthe
MB-17.

1 . Make sure the camera'spower switch is set to the OFF position,
open the camera'sbatterychamber cover, and then removethe
batteries.(Fig.a.)
o To avoid batteriesfrom falling,open the battery chambercover
facing upward.
2. Removethe protectorcap from the couplingcontacts.(Fig.b.)
o Reattachthe protectorcap wheneverthe MB-17 is not in use.
3. Insertthe MB -17 inthe camera body's batterychamberso that
the couplingscrew alignswith the camerabody's tripod socket.

. Camera'sbatterychambercover can be stored in the MB-17's
camera'sbatterychambercover holderas it is open. (Fig.c-2.\
4. Turn the attachmentwheel as illustratedwhile holdingtogether
the camera body and bottom of the MB-17 at the camera's
batterychamberto firmlytightenit. (Fig.d.)
. lf there's a noticeablespace left betweenthe camera body and
the MB -17, reattachthe MB -17.

The MB-17 uses four 1.5VAA-typealkaline-manganese,lithium,NiCd
or Ni-MH batteries.
1 . Make sure the camera'spower switch is set at the OFF position.
Removethe MS-16from the MB-17 while keepingthe battery
holderreleaseleverslidedas the arrow on the MS-16 indicates.

2. Installfour AA-typebatterieswith the "Q" and "6)" terminals
positionedas shown insidethe MS-16.(Fig.f .)
3. Returnthe battery hofderMS-16 into the MB-17's battery
chamberuntil it clicks into place.(Fig.g.)
4. Turn the power switch on and confirm battery power with the
batterypower indicationin the LCD panel on the camera body.
Notes on batteries
You should always handle batterieswith specialcare. Pleasefollow
the instructionsbelow.
o When installingbatteries,make sure the camera is switched OFF'
3te" alwaysinstallbatterieswith the "@" and poles in the
appropriateposition.
. When changingbatteries,do not mix old and new batteries-
change batteriessimultaneously.Use only same-brandbatteries.
Not followingthese steps may result in shorter battery life or poor
contact.
o NEVERshort-circuit,disassembleor heat batteries.NEVERattempt
to incinerateused batteries.
Do not short-circuit the MB-l7 with batteries installed
o Be sure to removethe batteriesfrom the MB-17 and attach
suppliedprotectorcap when carryingit separatelyfrom the camera
body or before lengthystorage.
Do not carryor store the MB-17 with metallicmaterialssuch as
necklaces,door keys or paper clips when batteriesare installed.
Connectingthe MB-17's poles with conductivemateriallike a
metallicplate short-circuitsthe MB-17.
o When carryingthe batteryholderMS-16 removedfrom the MB -17,
removeits batteriesor installit in a case to avoid possibleshort-
circuit caused by contacts with other metal objects.
Spare batteries
It may be difficultto get ceftaintypes or brands of batteriesin some
countries,so carryspare batterieswhen you travel.
Using the camera in low temperatures
Batteriesweaken in low temperatures,which may cause malfunctions.
To avoid this, it is recommendedto carry fresh batteries.Alternating
batteriesregularlywill keep them warm and help ensuresmooth
operation.Storingthe camerain a warm place while it is not in use is
also recommended.
o Examplesof low-temperatureimpact includeslow film rewind
speed and a decreasein the number of film rolls batteriescan
process.
o Batteriesweakenedby low temperaturescan recoverwhen returned
to normal temperatures.However, avoid drastic changes in
temperature,becausethis may cause unstablevoltage.For example,
do not put batteriesnear a heateror in a refrigerator/freezer.
