  Your camera system has been s€t to the proper settings for clinical
 photography. Ifyou utish to learn more about your carnerA, consult the Nikon
  instruction book for a full description of the recreational features
  ofthe N60.

 A - Mode Dial - for clinical use, this dial should be set ro "M"

 B - Command Dial - rorare to set shumer speed - for clinical use, should be
  set to 125 (1/125 sec.)

 C - On/Of Sutitch

 D - Shutter Button - used to take a picture.

 E - LCD Ditploy - shows the current picture count, shutter speed and
  battery level.

F - Lens Release Button - press this button and turn the lens clockrvise to
remove it from the camera body. To reattach the lens, align the red dot
on the lens with the white dot (F1) and turn countercloclavise  until the
lens clicks into place.

G - Battery Compartment -The battery compartment is located on the
bottom of the camera body. Open the cover by sliding the lock release.
The Nikon N60 requires two CRl23A lithium batteries. Close cover
until it clicks.

A - Ready Light / Test Button - when the flash is ready ro fire, the ready light
will illuminare. This button may also used to manu"lly fire rhe flash by
pressing ir.

B - Flash Mode sutitch - for clinical photos, this switch should be at the
"M/TTL" setting. see the flash instruction book for informarion on the
other settings.

C- On/OffSwitch

D - Point / Ring selector sutitch - choose rhe "p" setdng for the point flash
or the "R" setring for the ring flash.

E - Loch / Release Switch - us€ the lock seming for clickstops when rurning
the point flash. lJse the unlock setring to allow the point flash ro rorare
fre ely.

              Macro Lens Seuings





   A - Pre-Focus Label - dial the lens focus ring to the line next to the view you
     would like to photograph. Once you have pre-focused the lens, look at the
           tabet (B) and set the f-stop ring (C) to the largest number showing on      f-stop
      the f-stop label. If there are rwo nurnbers showing (i.- 15122), set the f-stop
      ring in berween them.

Taking a Photograph

     Once you have set your camera for the desired view turn on the flash.
     lWhen            the ready light comes on, you're ready to shoot. \Tithout further
      focusing the lens, cradle the lens in your left hand and hold the camera
     body in your right with your index finger on the shutter button. \ilhile
 )    looking through the viewfinder, move towards and away from your subject
 )    until it comes into focus and press the shutter button.

     By pre-selecting a view and then moving "in and out' to focus, you are
      ensuring that all your views will be the same size on the film, regardless of
    who takes the shots or when they were taken. This guarantees consistensy
     throughout all your photographs.



                  Point us. Ring Flash

    The major difference between point and ring flashes is the amount of shad-
     owing in the photograph.A point flash is a directional light and gives you
    minimd directional shadows. This effect helps your eye to see firee dimen-
      sional depth and surface texture in the rwo dimensional photograph. The
      point flash must be positioned for proper illumination, but the resulting
     photograph will look more natural.

Positioning the point                                 flash

                           Portrait Vieut (A) - the carnera should be held ver-
                              tically to use the rectangular format of the film to
                        capture the entire head. The flash is at the L2
                          o'clock position. The f-stop should be set to 5.6.
                    You will be approximately three feet from your
                          subject. Focus on the eyes for best results.



                            Profile Weut (B) - the carnera should be held ver-
                              tically to use the rectangular format of the film to
                         capture the entire head. The flash is positioned
                    on the same side as the patient's nose. The f-stop
                       should be set to 5.6. You will be approximately
                          three feet from your subject.



                        Anterior Weu, (C) - the camera is held horizontal-
                                   ly. The flash is at the 12 o'clock position. The f-
                        stop is half way berween 15 and22. You will be
                         appro,ximately 10 inches away from the patient's
                           teeth. Focus on the lateral incisors for best results.

                          Occlusal Vietu (D) - the camera is held horizontal-
                                   ly. The flash is positioned ar a 45 degree angle to
                         properly illuminate the entire arch. The f-stop is
                           half way berween 16 and 22. You will be approxi-
                       mately 9 inches away from tlre patient's teerh.

Troubleshootirug

    If you are having difficulry with any technique or your camera does not
  appear to be functioning correctly, please call our technical exPerts at
  818-908-5369.Most questions can be handled over the phone. Should
  your camera need repair, the technician will instruct you as to the best
  means for packaging and shippitg your carnera to us.

  Below is a list of common questions and the solutions.

   The camera takes a photo, but tahes a long time to utind to the next picture.
  This will happen if you take a picture before the ready light on the flash
  power pack (see page 5) is illuminated or if the flash power pack has moved
   back off the camerat hot shoe.

   The fksh d.oes not fre.
    If the ready light is illuminated and the flash will not fire when a picture
                                                                                    test    is taken, there are fwo things to check. First, Press the ready light /
   button (see page 5) on the back of the flash Power pack.
              - if nothing happens, the flash must be sent to us for repair.

              - if the flash does fire, take the Power pack off of the camera
         and reinsert  it on the camera's hot shoe. Be sure that the Power
         pack is seated all the way forward in the hot shoe. If it still will not
              fire, it must be sent in for repair.

    If the ready light will not illuminate, replace the batteries. If this does not
   solve the problem, send the flash in for repair.
