Automatic Balanced Fill-Ftash
Fill-flash adds an exciting new look to your pictures not only in daylight,
but also in twilight and at night. Using this technique, flash power is
automatically controlled to put the foreground subject's brightness ini balance with the backsround. This automatic method makes fill-flash
point-and-shoot easy.
Matrix Balanced Fill-Flash
In this technique, the Matrix Meter adjusts exposure for the background
based on segmented analysis ofscene brightness and contrast, and the TTL
flash exposure is then controlled, so flash illumination is balanced. This
system operates automatically, based on a combination of general scene
brightness and contrast. Matrix Balanced Fill-Flash is available with Nikon
F4. N8008s. N6006 and N50.
3D Multi-Sensor Balanced Fill-Flash
The most advanced format of the Auto-
matic Balanced Fill-Flash is made pos-
sible by the combination of the Nikon
N90s or N70, D-type AF Nikkor lens
and the 58-26. Just after mirror goes up
but before the shutter moves. the SB-26
fires a series of imperceptible Monitor
Pre-flashes that are detected by the
camera's TTL Multi Sensor. Moreover,
distance information from the D-type
lens in use is integrated with exposure
control information, thus automatically
compensating flash output level.
When the N90s or N70 and 58-26 are
used with a non-D-type AF or AI-P
Nikkor lens, (non 3D) Multi-Sensor
Balanced Fill-Flash which offers the
same flash output control system but
without Distance Information is per-
formed. Multi-Sensor Balanced Fill-
Flash, minus Monitor Pre-flash, is also

Slow Sync
When flash pictures are taken at high
shutter speeds in dim light, the back-
ground may come out dark. With the
Nikon N90s, N70 or N6006, setting Slow
Sync extends the automatically con-
trolled shutter speed range, enabling
background details to stand out. AF-Assist Illuminator
