The new Novoflex Follow Focus lenses permit split-second  inter-
chongeobility of lens heods ond comero odopters. A boyonet lock
guorontees sofe ond eosy connection of the individuql ports,
ond weor is procticolly non-existent even ofter constont use.
But please note:
When you turn the knurled boyonet lock ring to seporole the
components, hold bolh ports tightly, the pistol-grip ond lens heod
when chonging lenses - or the pistol-grip ond comero when chong-ing comero. This is eosily done by resting one port ogoinst your
body, os illustroted in picture No. 2.

The Novoflex Follow Focus lens and its System
The bosic unit is the follow focus grip; by meons of o boyonet
of the fronl', you con connecl ond interchongeobly use the follow-

which enoble you to use the comeros listed on Poge 7.

The Novoflex Follow Focus Grip 6x6 (2rlr sq. in.)
                                                ?The Noflexors 5.6/240 ond 5.6/500mm ore used with the Novoflex
Follow Focus Grip 6 x 5. The reor mount is permonently offixed                i
preventing 6x6 comero inierchongeobility, but lenses moy be
exchonged os eosily os with lhe 24 x 36 (35 mm) system. A speciol  .
odopter for the Novoflex Follow Focus Grip 6x6 will permit use
with 35 mm comeros.

Though Novoflex Follow Focus Lenses ore used mostly for tele-
photogrophy, you will find it useful to be oble to set for close-
ups. This con be done in o very simple monner by instolling on
inveried Bellows Extension "U" (see illustrotion 3) in ploce of on
odopier ring (COBA, EXBA, etc.)

Gamera Fitting for Motion Picture Cameras
For use of the Novoflex Follow Focus lens with motion picture
comercrs Bolex H-.I6 Rx, Beoulieu ond Pothe Webo, q crodle should
be used (PIBOLEX for Bolex H-l6 Reflex, PIBEA for Beoulieu ond
PIWEBO for Pothe Webo).
To odopt the 400 mm Noflexor, this connecting orm is obsolutely
n ecesso ry.
To mount the lens,  ii is necessory to  fl rst lock ihe lens turret of the
comero with the ovoiloble locking screw supplied by the comero
monufocturer. The odopter ring designed for your comero is then
screwed into the comero. You now insert the comolete Follow
Focus Lens into the odopter ring ond connect comero ond lens
with the crodle (ill.4). No crodle is required for Arriflex. After the
extension tube PITUB-B is connected between the pistol-grip ond
lens heod, the lens is reody for use.

Adjustment of Camera Fitting
The odopter rings ore foctory odiusted lo ihreod-stop verticolly
correct when threoded to comero. Should this not be the cose,
(perhops through forceful turning or on irregulor comero ihreod),
 it is possible to re-odiust os follows:
Remove odopter ring from comero ond loosen 3 SCREWS
(DO NOT REMOVE) the 3 screws (ill. 5). The
inner threoded ring is turned left, if comero
wos found to tilt too for toword right, by
opproximotely the some omount os degree
of tilt. Tighten the 3 screws, put odopter ring
bock on comero, ond check position. Should it
now tilt toword ihe left - the threoded ringhos to be turned to the right. This is repeoted
uniil the comero is in upright position.                                                                                          iil. 5
Interchanging lenses
As exploined eorlier, it is possible to chonge lenses within the
some formot - becouse of the odvonced design of the NovoflexFollow Focus system. One exception is the 640 mm Noflexor,
which should NOT be used on movie comeros, os it would be loo
f ront-heovy.
The lens heods Noflexor 280, 400, ond 640 mm for the Follow
Focus Grip 24x36, hove Boyonet lock rings ond con simply be
locked into the Follow Focus Grip B. When exchonging the Novoflex
400 mm with the 640 mm lens heod, the lens mount (lens cell) (E)
is unscrewed from the 400 mm lens heod is then reploced by
screwing in the 640 mm lens heod.
The lens heods Noflexor 240 ond 500 mm for the Follow Focus
Grip 6 x 6 ore olso equipped with o boyonet mount.

Filters
Filters ore ovoiloble in vorious colors, os well os hoze ond UV
filters, for oll focol lengths of Novoflex Follow Focus lenses.
Additionol color filters ore ovoiloble for use with ortificicil light
or doylight film. All filters ore cooted ond hove screw-in mounts.
Fifiers for the Follow Focus lenses 6x6 ore screwed into the mount
of the reor lens cell (M 49x0.75).
Taking pictures
For long distonce shots, where extroneous light is especiolly
undesiroble,  it is recommended you moke it o hobit io use the
sunshode.
Using Novoflex Follow Focus lenses is no different thon operoting
your comero equipped with ony normol lens: You hold the Follow
Focus lens, with comero ottoched, by the pistol-grip, while the
other hond is reody to depress the comero body shutter releose.
Your orms should be slightly pressed ogoinst your body to ovoid
comero movemenf. While looking through the finder, you conr-
press the pistol-grip until the imoge oppeors shorp on the ground
gloss, then trip the releose. Since the focusing movemenf of
the pistol-grip is porollel to ihe opticol oxis, ihe subieci
olwoys "sfonds" still on the focusing ground gloss. The obility to
quickly odiust for shorpness with the pistol-grip is of speciol
odvontoge for condid shots of moving subiects. By decreosing or
increosing pressure on the pistol-grip, you con spontoneously
follow every movement of your subiect. You ore olwoys reody
io shoot becouse your oiher hond remoins on lhe shuiter releose.
Your hond will  instinctively regulote proper pressure with o
minimum omount of proctice. Difficult condid tele-shots of moving
subiects become os eosy with your Novoflex equipment os normol
shots with ony ordinory short focol length lens.

Focusing pressure mqy become too firm ofter extensive use.
Unscrew front (4) ond reor (4o) threoded cops, ond put o drop
of sewingmochine oil in eoch beoring surfoce. The Novoflex
Follow Focus lens is designed for hond-held shots: Photogrophs
with the 400 mm Noflexor, with on exposure of r/roo second, ore
no problem; with longer exposures ond using ihe 640mm No-
flexor, we recommend the Novoflex chest ond shoulder pod.  lt
offers porticulor security ogoinst shoking movement ond con
noturolly be used with oll Novoflex Follow Focus lenses (see
speciol folder).
A threoded socket (3) which is locoted on the bottom of the pistol-
grip, fostens the chest ond shoulder pod, PISTOCK, io the pistol-
grip. This threod socket (3) should not be used to ottoch the lens
to o iripod.
For time exposures, the focusing odiustment of the pistol-grip
con be locked on both sides by the two locking knobs (2). For
iripod shots with the 640 mm ond the 400 mm Noflexor, becouse
of the extremely long focol length, the Novoflex tripod ring
PISTAR is required. This ring is simply pushed on the Novoflex
Follow Focus lens (see ill.6). lt con qlso be used with ihe Novoflex
400 mm Follow Focus lens.
