           l . Open comero bock (see Poge l5).
     2. Hold film ond comero os illustroted in top photo.
        Insert loose end of film into slot.
     3. Ploce cortridge into chornber of opposite end.
     4. Close ond lock comero, securing cortridge in ploce.
     5. Use rewind knob (see Poge 14l. to toke up slock                  f
                    i n f i l m .
    6. When coyer  is closed, counter shows  " S "  for
         stort.  Use the ropid wind lever to odvonce the         film one complete frome (o full swing on the lever),       frlEr
         click the shutter, repeot for onother frome.  The
       counter will then be on #1, ond you ore reody for
       your first picture on the roll.
    7.  During these two proctice winds, look through the
       Speciol Film-ln-SprocketWindow to be sure film is
        properly engoged.
      The Olympus Electroseloccepts ond stondord 35mm
       cortridge of the Olympus Mogozine Type P.

   At the widest portion of the Ropio Wind Lever is o diol with o window.
  The window shows the type  of  film being used in the comero, Pon,
  Color, etc.  After looding o new roll of  film, turn the diol with the
  two bors until the type of film looded shows in the window.  This is
  o reminder to you.  At the some lime, you should set the ASA Film
  Speed Diol (see Poge  I ll.
  To the lower right of the Ropid Wind Lever, oh the comero body top
   is o window showing the number of exposures olreody mode.  When
  the  f ilm is looded it reods " S "  for  stort.  Two proctice winds bring
  counter to *1.  Eoch time onother exposure is mode, the counter
  moves to the next number.

                                                                l.  Swing flush lock ot comero bottom so thot it extends down-
                                     word, toword the ground.
                                          2. Turn lock hondle so  it is porollel with the oxis of the lens.
                                          3. Comero bock outomoticolly opens up.  This is the quickest
                                  method in existence.
  To close comero bock ofter looding film, reverse procedure.

                                  Just below ond to the right of the viewing window on the comero
                               bock  is the exclusive ond unique  " Film-in-sprocket "  Window.
                             To check proper  film odvonce, look  into  this window  os you
                           move the Ropid Wind Lever.  Mover the lever slowly ond see
                                  the sprockets cotch the film sprocket holes.  There is no light
                                  leok whotever to the film.  No oction shows unless film  is in
                                  the comero.

    When the Shutter Releose Button is depressed ond on exposure
     mode, o white dot oppeors.  When the Ropid Wind Lever is used,
     ond the shutter cocked, the dot o ppeors RED. When the dot  is
     RED,you know you're reody to shoot.  When the Dot is white, no
     exposure con be mode.  The dot is locoted to the right of the f,16

On the comero bock  is o round window
 showing ASA speeds.  Determine speed
 of  the film you're using.  Press to the
 right the button next  to  the  indicotor.
 With  the button pressed, turn the lens
 opening diol until the proper film speed
 oppeors  opposite  the  blqck  pointer
 within the indicotor. Releose the button.
 Be sure it is set by seeing  if  entire  in-
 dicotor AND POINTERWITHIN INDICATOR
 turns together os you turn the  shutter
 speed diol ond/or  film speed diol (duol
 borrels). The block indicotor is for normol
 use. When using the  Electric Booster,
 set  the ASA speed opposite  the RED
 pointer.  Do not set ASA speed opposite
 the red pointer unless you ore using the
 Electric Booster.
 Wifh the ASA film speed properly  set, the electric exposure meter  is outomolicolly geored  to
 give you lhe proper setting. This simple foolproof method soves voluoble time. As on odditionol
 reminder be sure to set the Film-in Use Indicotor ql lhe comero top (ree Poge 9).                                l l

                                            There ore 3 bosic positions of the Lever.  Closed,
                                           Reody, ond Open. (See illustrotions).
                                     When Closed, the Sofety-Lock button is depressed
                                          ond no exposures con be mode.

                                     When Reody, the Lever is of o 25" ongle, reody
                                                         to cotch your thumb for quick film odvonce.
                                     When Open, the Lever is ot its full 120" orc, ond
                                                                                        it outomoticolly springs bock to the Reody posi-
                                                          tion.

                                          The single swing of the Lever performs o number
                                                         of operotions :  f ilm odvonce, shutter cocking, €x-
                                             posure counting, red dot oppeoronce (see Poge l0).
                                                                                         lf you  feel  o  tightness when  using the Lever,
                                            check the Film-in-sprocket window.  Under normol
                                                operoting conditions, lhe Lever will work smoothly
                                           ond without undue effort.

  When the Ropid Wind Lever is set  f lush with the comero body (os
    it  is in the cose) the shutter connot be exposed by the  shutter
  releose button.  Only when the Ropid Wind Lever  is ot the 25"
  ongle (see illustrotion)will the shutter releose button operote.  This
  improvement prevents occidentol shooting. The Sofety-Lock Button
  con be seen on the top  of  the comero body beneoth the Ropid
  Wind Lever.



                          The Automotic Ropid Wind System prevents o double exposure on o
                                single frome, since the shutter connot be cocked without the  film
                             being odvonced.     lf , however, you wont  to moke 2 or more  in-
                                 tentionol exposures on o  single frome, press the button on  the
                          comero bock iust below the Ropid Wind Lever.  With  the button
                            depressed, give the Lever o full swing.  This cocks the shutter but
                      DOES NOT ADVANCE the  film.  The process moy be repeoted  to
                                get 21 3 or more exposures on one frome.

   depressed during the entire rewind operotion'

                           The FocusingKnob (see illustrotionl moves the focusing ring, which
                                        in turn offects  the rongefinder/viewfinder.   As you look through
                                the finder of the comero bock, move the knob.  When the yellow
                           imoge  is  exoctly superimposed over  the  regulor imoge  in  the
                                    finder, the focus is correct.  BE SURE THE YELLOW AREA OF THE
                          FINDERCOVERSTHAT PARTOF THE SUBJECTYOU WANT IN FOCUS.
                           The helicol motion principle of  the Olympus focusing is the most

                                                           distinct groups of conditions covering procti-
                                                           colly every picture possibility. For night pic-

                                                         Electric Booster moy be used, plugging into

                Looking down of lhe comero, you see oll scole settings. Between
                  the distonce morker ond the shutter speed diol  is o series of
               numbers the some os the f/stops. When the center line between
                  the two  " 2.8's " points to  15 feet  for exomple, you know you
                 ore focused ot  l5 feet ond thot,  if the f/stop being used is  f l16,
              ALL DISTANCESSHOWN BETWEENTHE TWO ..16'' LINES WILL BE
             SHARP. Simply follow the lines thot go from  " 16" down to the
                   ring showing the distonce.
                 Extro depth  of  field  is ovoiloble  in the OLYMPUS ELECTROSET
                becouse the E ZUIKO lens hos o  focol  length of 42mm (4.2cn1.
