1. Set the camera to manuat system
                             T ur n the ASA setting  r ing to setany one

                             switched  to m anual  system .  T hen the
                                 shutter can be released  f reely regardless
                                o f   l i g h t c o n d i t i o n s .    I



                      2. Open the rear cover and load the
                    camera with film
                                 Pull out the  r ear cover  lock. T he cover
                        w i l l o p e n a u t o m a t i c a l l y . T h e n p u l l u p  t h e
                                                     r ewinding  knob.  Put  the  film  cassette
                                                                                i nto the film com par tm ent. Push the  r e.
                        w i n d i n g k n o b   i n .     l f  t h e k n o b c a n n o t b e
                          pushed  in com pletely,  tur n    it  slightly
                             clockwise  or  counter clockwise   while
                             maintaining  pr essur e.

3. Engage the film with the take-up
   spool
    Hold the camera with your  teft hand. With
    the  r ight hand, pull out the  film end to
   such extent  that   it reaches  the  take-up
    spool. lnsert the film end into any of the
    six slots on the take.up spool, keeping  it
   away from  direct  sunlight.  Be sure that
    the gear teeth on the sprocket spool en.
   gage the  perforations   of  both  sides  of
    the film , winding the fjlm on to the take.

4. Check the film counter
  Windthe film and releasethe shutterbut.
    ton. Repeat this motion two or three more
    tim es  until the  r ed  tr iangle  of  the film
   counter  points  to  "1".  From  this  point,
    start taking pictures. Whenever you wind
   the  film ,  be sur e you  wind   it  all the
              way.  Otherwise  you  cannot
               releasethe shutter button.

              properly.

7. Gompose the picture and release
   the shutter
   Look  thr ough  the  viewfinder and place
   the subiect  in the  center  of  the white
   frame.  Press the shutter  release button
    with the  f lat par t of the index finger , but
   NOT with the tip of the finger . When the
    str bject is too dim ,  the shutter can not
   be   r eleased, and  a   r ed war ning  signal
   com es up in the viewf inder . In this case,
   m ove  the  subject  to  an  ar ea that has
   m or e  light, or use a flashgun. When tak-
         i n g p i c t u r e s , h o l d  t h e c a m e r a  f i r m l y a s
   shown  in the pictur es below.

                         8. Rewind the film'
                        When a roll of film  is completely exposed,
                               rewind  the  film. DO NOT attempt  to ad-
                           vance the  film .  T he  film  is com pletely
                             exposed, when  the  red  triangle  of  the
                                    film  counter  points the num ber  72  lin
                              case  of a 36-exposure   roll), 40  la 2Q-ex-
                              posure  rolll, 24 (a l2-exposure   roll), de-
                            pending upon  the  length  of  film  uscd.
                              Press the  rewind button on the bottom
                                      of the camera body. Lift the rewind crank
                            and  tur n   it  in  the  dir ection  of  ar r ow.
                              T he cr ank  is tight while the film  is being'
                                                      r ewour ld, but when the end of the film
                              leaves the take- up spool, the  cr ank will
                          become  loose. Then open the  rear cover
                            and pull out the  film   r ewind knob.  Re-
                      m ove  the  film ,  keeping   it away  fr om
                                       dir ect sunlight.

(1) The use of either a flashgun or an elec'
 1  tronic flash is recommendedif red warn'
  I   ine signal appears in the viewfinder. We
  -I  recgmmend our compact Pen Flash CL.       lt is very handy as it is cordless.
 (2) ln flash photography, set the camera to
   manual system, turning the ASA setting
O  rine (See "1"  in precedingpase).Look at
 J  tne instruction in the bulb-packageto
 A  determine the F number. Set the F num-
    ber on the ASA setting ring to the center
    dot. The shutter speed is set at U40 sec.
    automatically.
 (31 Insert the Pen Flash CL into the acces'
 ^  sory shoe (with built-in cordless contactl
  ll   at  the  top  of  the  camera; where   it
  ;'l  connects  electrically to  the  shutter'
 U  diaphragm mechanism. The Pen Flash
   CL exposure chart is stuck on the rear
     of the f lash.
    When using an ordinary  flashgun  or elec.
     tronic  flash,  insert the  unit  into the ac.
     cessory shoe and attach  the  flash con'
     necting   plug   into   the  synchronizing(4)Tsocket  of the camera.
