Operating lnstructions

  Do not aitempt fo operate "PAL KO" Camera
until you have read the instructionscarefullyand
thoroughly.

  When making3-A or full sizeexposure,the neg-
afivo will includeall fhat is seen on the Ground
Glass.
  Two thirds size exposureswill contain the view
as seenbetweenthe dashlineson the GroundGlass
marked%.
  Cne ihird size exposureswill be limited to the
dotied linesmarked%.
  When focusing"PAL KO" Camerawithouta tri-
pod, selecfa fixed point near you (for example-
the tip of your own shoe)to gauge with it the rear
or front of the Camera Case by an imaginaryver-
fical or horizonfalline, forming a squareangle to
fhe line leadingfrom the lensto the focusedob-
ibct.  Then, after getting the focusing on the
Ground Glassclear and in the righi proportion,
and settingyour requiredlensspeedand the light
aperturestop, put your Camera back in line with
the gauging point again, and, with the focused
obiect well-centralizedin the View Finder, make
fhe exposure.
  The correctly focused obiect appears on the
GroundGlasssharpand brilliant.
  Sometimes,'undercondi+ionswhenthe lightis di-
 recily on fhe Ground Glassand interfereswith fo-

  Pushslowlydown the ShiftingRod (after making
ihe exposure)giving the film a chanceto 'vind
tightly aroundthe empty spool (see Fig.  l2),
  All "PAL KO" LensCombinations,whichcc,nsti-
iute the standardopticalequiprent of the various
3-A "PAL KO" Camera Models,are perfectlyand
easilyinterchangeable.
 We can furnishan inexpensivefocusinghood if
desired.

shown in Fig.3  (to avoid unwinding),fhen insenf

  When both Spools a re in Tubes, engdge *he
 Empty Spool on the Slot first, then give the Spcol
 with the Film d turn to the right until the slot ls
 engaged;+hetop ends of Spoolsnow are iust belcw
 the edge of Tubes.
   Next close the Spool Holder Lids and the LoaC-
 ing Door, and turn Winding K"y until it engages
 with the empty or ReceivingSpool. See Fiq. 5.

  After the film is loaded into the Camera as in-
structed,turn Winding K"y slowlyto the riqht until
Nc.  I appearsin the Ruby Windcw. Now, fold the
Wirding K"y down flat and do not use it until the
    ^eenti    roll film is used.

          UNLOADING
   After ali exposureshave been made, as shown
    -heon     Recording Dial, finish the winding of  filrn
paper around exposed film with Winding K"y; then
cp€ 1 Loading Door and Spool Holder Lids, ani
ren,r\z€the film with forefinger or any way that is
fou.d mcst convenientwithout benCingor twisting
the Samera parts out of shape.

  ATTENTION: Sometimesthe sealing sticker is
 left in the tube after the film has been removed;
the SealingSticker must be taken ouf of ihe Spccl
 FJolderTube.

  NOTE: In closing the Camera Bed, do not at-
tempt to push Braces back before the Lens Car-
riage and BellowsSupport are all the way in the
Camera Housing-a  Safety Device is supplied to
prevent this.
  The Lens should be placed central on the car-
riage and Lens-F{oldingStandard before returning
it into the housing.

  Pull-outthe Lens Carriage, as illustratedabove,
until rigidly stopped (ut this point the bellovrssup-
port closescompletelythe entranceinto the Cam-
era housing);now, let loose on the  " Pull-out"for
an instant,and the "click-sound"will indicatethat
the Lens Carriage should be pulled out (to the
front) until it latches on the Stud connected with TFocusingLever.

  ATTENTION! Do not push-inthe Lens Carriage
with the Shifting Rod out or the Ground Glass
Door open!

  NOTE:  Tripod Sockets in "PAL KO" Camera
will accommodate Tripod Screws fe"  Iong only.

To bring film into a posi-
                               tion ready for exposure,pull-
                            out the Shifting Rod until it
                          stopsrigid (yo, first pull past
                           a yieldinglatch which sepa-
                           rates Film Spools).
                                Afier exposurehas been
                       made,ShiffingRod is pushed
                           slowlyback into Camera all
                  way down; this operation returns both
                    Spool Holders fo  original position;
                   now, the exposedfilm has been auto-
                      matically wound.

   The Dial returns to  zero and will not operate when the
 Loading Door  is opened.
   Do not open the Loading Door until the entire Film is

  Beforefolding the Camera, put the Cable Re-
leasearoundthe Shutterin the positionillustrated
above.

  Pass Cable Release behind View-Finder,then,
connectingthe Button End of Cable ReleaseHan-
dle under and over th" Cable Release Base as
shown here, slip the Cable Releaseover the Shut-
ter.  This prevents the damaging of Lens, Bellows
and other parts of the Camera.

     CLEANINGTHE VIEW-FINDER
  Turn View-Finder into the  position illustrated
above (about 45" angl").

  Then, with the forefinger on the View-Finder's
rear and the thumb on its front, squeezegently
and lift up the cover with the thumb.

  After cleaning thoroughly put  it back into for-
mer position.

  NOTE: Do not return Lens into Camera Hous-
ing with View-Finder left unfolded.

     CLEANINGTHECAMERALENS

  Unscrewthe Shutter out of the Front Board as
iliustrated above.                                              .

  Always support the Lens Standard and protect
it from bending, which would dislocate the well-
centralizedposition of the lens focus.

  When the Shutter is completely out, screw out
the Lenses,one at a time, and, after cleaningthem
thoroughly with chamois or special lens cleaninq
paper, screw them back into Shutter and fhe Shut-
ter into the Front Board; this completesthe opera-
tion.

  NOTE:  Avoid pressingon the small Levers on
ihe Shutter which serve for setting up the time of
exposu res.

     All 3-A "PAL KO" Camera modelswill take in
  and operafe6 and l0 exposurefilm rolls;provided,                    I
   of course,fhat the camerais.operatedaccording
   io instructionsand illustraiionsas outlinedin this
  booklet.

    5 and l0 exposureroll filmsvary in lengthand,
  affer fhe full numberof exposureshavebeenmade,
  ihere is a balanceof fhe film left at the film ends
  whichvariesin size.

   We would adviseall "PAL KO" usersto utilize
  ihis balanceafter the full 6 or l0 exposureshave
  been made; take a chanceand make either ,A o,
   /s of PostCard Sizeadditionalexposure,accord-
  ing to your own experiencewith the variousstand-
  ard film roll makes.

    For example: if a 6,film roll is used(oneof fhe
  popularstandardmakes)and full 6 PostCard Size
  Exposureshave been made, try to make an addi-
  iional %  Post Card Size Exposure;then, if 3A,
  /3. and %  are diversifiedand the Recording
  Dial registers"6", try fo make an additional                          %
  Size Exposure(somestandardfilm roll makeswill
  permitadditionul /s PostCard SizeExposureeven
  with diversifiedexposuresizes). Theseconditions
  alsoapplyto l0 film rollof popularstandardmakes.

   You will find it very valuableto keepa recordof
I the variousexposuresas to the sizeof the picture,  time of exposure,size of aperture stop and the
  time of the duyt then, after fhe film is develo'p"d,
  youwill havean opportunityfo observeand study
  the film in connectionwith your record. The film
   in this case shouldnof be cut when developed-
    it shouldretain ifs originallength as if came off
  the roll.  lf you do not developthe film yourself,
  instrucfthose who develop it for you not to cut
  the film when if is developed.
