Depthof Field

\flhen you focus the camera on a subject
there is a certain range extending in front oF
and behind the subject within which other ob-
jects will also appear sharp. This range is called
the"Depth of Field" and it varies with diaphragm.
The larger the diaphragm, the shorter the Depth
of Field, and the smaller the diaphragm, the
longer the Depth oF Field. The figures on the
Depth of Field Scale indicate the diaphragm
number and on the footsing knob designate the
distance in metre. After focusing, the distance
figure pointed by the same two diaphragm figures
indicates the Depth of Field in the condition
of that diaphragm opening. For instance, it the
camera is tocused to 3 metres with diaphragm
opening t6 the Depth of Field is approximately
from 2.3 to 5 rnetre.
