                 PREFACE

Musashino Kdki k.k. appreciates your choice of this Rittreck SP camera) a newly designed
single lens reflex camera which is outcome by intensive research for long years and experimen-
tation to produce a camera to be capable of meeting the exact requierments of the profes-
sional camera of extreme versatility for wide range of uses including news photography,
commercial work, scientific and industrial applications.
To produce this camera, we have paid special attention to the followings.
  1. Steadiness and lightness.
  2. Easy operation and portability.
  3. Non-mirror & shutter shock.
  4.  Instant interchangeabilities  for lens and film.
  5. Lowest cost and highest mechanism.

FEATURES

 l.  The body is made of aluminium alloy die casting which has adequate rigidity combined with lightness
    and resistance to corrosive action.
2.  Lens interchangeability. The standard Luminant l05mm F : 3.5 lens is interchangeable with wide angle
    or telephoto lenses. Besides this standard lens, 5 other lenses of wide angle or telephoto are provided.
3. Extreme availability for many different negative sizes from 120 Rollfilm. Dry plate (21faX31/.r//), Cut
    film (6x9) and Film Pack (520) are also available.
4.  Easy exchange film (black-and-white to color, color to black-and-white).
5.  Easy operation for copying, close-up work and micro-photography.
6.  Mirror and shutter absorbing system.
    Equipped with unique mirror and shutter shock absorbing mechanism which can be adjusted u""orai'rrg
    to vertical or horizontal photograph. This systern perfectly deprives of any shock comes from mirror
   and shutter movement.

USE FII'N AND FII'N HOTDER

    With this Rittreck camera) the Dry plate, Cut film and Film pack are usable besides 120 Rollfilm which
enable you to select the following different negative sizes by use of each film holder or mask.
 l.  120 Rollfihn
               Rollfilm Holder No. I
                    For 6x7, 6X6 & 6x4.5cm. Three negative sizes from one holder.
               Rollfilm Holder No.2
                    For 6X9cm negative sizes    B exposures.
               Rollfilm Holder No.3
                   (A) for 6x7 negative size.    l0 exposures.
                   (B) for6x6   n         12     t
                  (C) for 6x4.5   t          15   a
2. Dry Plate  D.y plate (520 2t1nrrX3'ln't) is placed in the plate holder, which is inserted in front of
                 the focusing screen holder from the side.
3. Cut FiLn     (520) A 6X9 sheet of cut film is quartered, and each piece is placed in a cut film sheath
                    for fitting in the regular plate holder.
4. Fikn Pach  (6x9) Film pack is placed in the film pack holder, which is  inserted in the focusing
                  screen holder.

     HOW TO USE YOUR RITTRECK SP CA'NERA
              tA]  INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE RITTRECK ROLL FILM HOLDER
   The Rittreck roll film holder is specially designed and manufactured to be used e xclusivelv with the
Rittreck camera.
   The rollfilm holder is easy to load and has the advantage of using three  different size of films. The
Rittreck holder uses 120 rollGlm giving ten exposures at 2tlnx2slnt'(6cmx7cm)  twelve exposures at 2tfaX2rln"
(6cmx6cm) and fifteen exposures at 2tf rxlsf r" (6cmx4.5cm).

                              ROLLFILM HOLDER No.  I
                                                           Film:       No. 120 rollfilm
                                                                    Picture Size :  l0 exposures of 6 X 7 cm.
                                                                                l2 exposuresof 6X6cm.
                                                                                l5 exposures of 6 X 4. 5cm.
                                                                   Rollfilm holder No. I has a feature which
                                                                 enable you to select three different negative
                                                                             sizes by use of masks.
                                                                                       l)   Insert the protective slide into the holder.
                                                      2) Open the backlid (A) by pulling up
                                                            Lock (G).
                                                      3) Pull out the spool knob (B) and insert
                                                                 the film in the chamber (C).

4) Thread the film end to the take up spool, through the film guide (E) and pin roller (D as the sketch
     shows.
 5) Wind knob (D) and advance the film until start mark of film leader paper coincides to (J).  Shut the (A).
 6) Combine the Rollfilm Holder with camera body.
 7) According to the desired negative size, change the protective slide of Holde r to each negative mask.  (For
    6x7 cm use, no mask is used.)
 B)  IJse one of counter windows (F) according to desired negative size. (You may neglect the other two.)
 9) Wind the knob (D) until exposure number I appears and the red line of dial matches black line of
     desired counter window. Now, ready for taking picture. For the next exposure, wind the knob until
     the next number appears in the counter window and match red line in the same way.
l0)  After exposed all, wind up (D) until mark E appears in counter window. Then, open the backlid and
    remove the film.
      (Be careful to take up the exposed film which has strong reflex motion, as it is curled in opposite way.)

(B] TAKING THE PICTURE
   l.  Shutter winding knob
        l)  Wind the shutter winding knob (B-16) for lB0" backwards until it stops and the red marking line
          coincides with the white dot.
     2) By winding the knob, the reflex mirror flips down at the same time, and the shutter is set.
     3)  If the winding knob does not move, it means that the shutter is already set but not released
         yet. Then release the shutter by pushing the release button (B-lB).
     4)  If you release the shutter incompletely, both of winding knob and release button does not become
        movable. Then wind the knob slightly until the red marking line of knob opposite white dot, while
         pushing the release button (B-lB).

2. Lens shode
   9p.o up the lens shade to horizontal position. Then the    lens will appear.
3. Focusing finder
   Your Rittreck camera is equipped with a folding type view
    finder hood which is used as a waist level finder.  -
     l)  (Jnscrew and release the finder lock button (B-ll).
   2) Push the button, then the finder will open automatically.
   3) When close the finder, fold No.  I hood panel at first and according to the picture fold No. 2,
      No.3 and No.4 panel.. At last, screw and tie the lock button (B-ll).
   4)  This viewfinder is exchangeable to an extra eye level finder. To take this finder off, open the all
       panels and slide it backward until it stops. Then lift  it up, the finder can be removed from the
      camera bodv.

           1.  Picture oreo in finder

         On the ground glass of finder, you can see the hairlines which show
               the several picture areas on film as follows   :
                                hairline of both side is for 6x4.5 cm. Picture size.I                     l)  Internal
              2) Middle (red) hairline of both side is for 6X6 cm. Picture size.
I              3) External hairline of both side is for 6 X7 cm. Picture size.
              4)  Full area of ground glass is for 6x9 cm. Picture size.
                   Please ascertain the exact picture area according to the film size.

Focusing
  To focus the camera, turn the focusing knob (A-5) forward or
   backward. You will observe that the image becomes sharp or
   unsharp as you do this. When image appears sharpest on the
   ground glass, the camera is in focus. As this camera is single
   lens reflex, the sharpest focus on the ground glass is exactly
   same as actual focus on film, and free from any parallax.

   Mognifier (B-12)
   Raise this magnifier by pushing lock button. This is equipped
   with focusing view fiinder (A-l), which enable you to get the
   sharpest possible focus. The glass of magnifier is larger and
   clear convex lens.

7  Sports finder (B-13)
   This 6nder is for seeing the obiect directly at eye level, which
    is most effective for moving objects. Sports finder is usable
   for farer objects than 6 meters. To use this sports finder,
   open (@) after"raising the magnifier.

       iC] SHUTTER DIAL SETTING

                     t.   High speed diol setting

                    l)  After cock the winding knob, lift the shutter dial (A-10) and turn the dial clockwise. Set the dial at
                  the desired shutter speed by coinciding it with the marking dot (A-0). Then the shutter will be set
                   at desired speed.
                   2)    If you feel any difficulty to set at ll2o0 or 11400 as the distance of them is very narrow, set the
                  center of lil00 and l/200 against marking dot.  Slightly pressing the dial, turn  it slowly toward 11200.
              The shutter will be set at ll200. In case set at 11400, set the center of B and ll400 and turn the dial
                toward l/400 in the same method, then the dial is set at 11400.

2.  Slow speed diol setfing

   l)  Set the high speed dial (A-10) at 1120.
   2)  Turn the slow shutter dial (B-15) at desired speed and coincide it with
      the marking line without lifting it. Then the slow shutter is ready.
   3)  When you use high speed dial again, be sure to reset the slow shutter dial
           20 ".  The high speed dial is ready to work.      at "

            3. Time exposure
                   I)  Set the high speed dial at ,, B',.
             2) Push the shutter release button (B-lS).
             3) Pushing the release button, turn this rerease button clockwise. Now, time exposure is ready.
             4) To unset the time exposure, turn the release button once again to ordinary position.


              LENS APERTURE        ID]
                  Pre'sct dlophrogm Your Rittreck camcra is equipped with a Luminant 105 mm F:3.5 lens which has
            a most convenicnt pre+et diaphragm system.
                                                              l)  Set the pre-set ring ( O ) ut desired aperture  against the indicator
                                  (@) before focusing.
 a                                            2.\ Turn the actual diaphragm ring ( @ ) to 3.5 to focus with the dia-l1
                                          phragm fully open.
                                             )    3) After accurate focusing turn the actual diaphragm ring ( @ ) which +
                                                     automatically stops at the pre-selected aperture setting.

FLASH PHOTOGRAPHYIE]
   The camera Ehutter takes over the task of 6ring thc bulb electrically at the right moment. Your Rittreck
   camera has thc highest clectronic mcchanism for this purposc and is cquipped with following contacts
   which permit you to enjoy the flash photography with any flash attachm€nt'

     l)   F. B. Coniqct
                                                                                                               bladcs     This is applicablc to F-class bulb and is made approximately 5 milliseconds, before thc abutter
                                                                                most suitablc to     are fully opend. F.class bulb is comparativcly low in its illumination power so it is
      use in ordinary room at abut 15 fect object. F.class bulb is synchronizcd with lower speed than l/50
      shutter spced,

   2) X. Conloct
     This is used for an electronic or strobo flash unit with zero delay. The
      flash fires as soon as the shutter blades reach full opening. Since the
      duration of the flash itself is actually shorter than any shutter setting, thus
    you may select any shutter speed but it is advisable to use a speed under
        rl2o.

       (F] SHOCK ABSORBTNG ADJUSTOR
          Your Rittreck camera is equipped with an unique mirror shock absorbing system which enable to take
          away at all the shocks come from the  reflex mirror movement. When you take vertical photograph
             with 6X9cm or 6X7 cm film size, adjust the shock absorbing knob (A-7).

                    l)  Pull out the shock absorbing knob. Set the external white dot at internal red dot.
           2) When taking horizontal photograph, Eet thc external red dot at intcrnal rcd dot. If you do not
                   so, thc shuttcr docs not work in the horizontal position.

                 3)    If you release the shutter and take the horizontal photograph when the white dot is opposite to red
                  dot, the mirror does not work. Then set red dot to opposite internal red dot and wind the winding
             knob (8-16) slowly until the red line of knob comes at marking dot, while pushing the shutter
                    release button.

(G] HOW TO INTERCHANGE THE LENS



                                       1) To dismount the lens board from the camera, slide up the
                                          upper board holder  r,r'ith center pinch (A-2) and take off the
                                                 lens with board.
                                                      2)  To mount the lens board, slide dou'n it after exactly affix
                                            the lens board to the camera body.
                                                      3)  You may do it also by lower board holder (A-14).
                                                      4)  Lens is screw-in mounted on lens board. This lens board is
                                             also used for Luminant 92 mm F :4. 5 wide angle lens, and
                                             as for extention tubc.
