NOTE
. This camera will not work without a battery. pr . Use two 3V lithium batteries(CR-I23A or DL-123A).
' The lens cap automatically opens when the ON/OFF button is turned on. l . Do not open the lens cap with your fingers.
' When the camera has no flim, the shutter fuhctions^ but winding and rewinding does not.
The shutter does not function in following circumstances
' When the camera has no battery or when the battery is almost exhausted. . When the lens cap is closed.
' When the zoom button is operating or when the film is winding or rewinding.
(Rewinding will stop as long as the shutter button is pressed down during-rewinding.) . When the film remains in the camera after rewinding.
. When the flash is being charged.
x This camera is controlled electronically by a built-in microcomputer. Although unlikely, it may fail to
operate under certain circumstances in which there is strong static electricity.
In such cases, please take out the lithium batteries and put them back into the battery chamber again

REPI.ACING THE BATTERY
Open the battery chamber cover by pressing the hole with a pin as shown above.
Insert new'batteries and be sure to place them in the correct position.
Close the battery chamber cover until you hear it click..
NOTE. Use CR-l23A or DL-123A battery only.

2. Insert a roll of film in the film chamber. Do not force the film into position.
? Pull the end of the film to the film tip position as shown above. lf you have pulled the film too far,

4. Close the back until you hear the "Click" sound. The flim will automatically advance until the film -co_ver counter reads "1"
5. When the film winding stops automatically, the LCD panel shows the symbol as shown above.
NOTE' The camera automatically sets the film speed for lS0 50-3200 DX fllm.
' When you use non-DX film, the camera will automatically set the film speed at ISO 100. . Do not load the film in direct sunlight.
x The camera detects if a film is mis-loaded and the "E" mark will flash in the LCD whilst
locking the shutter. Open the camera back cover and repeat the film loading operation.

USING THE CAMERA
Press the 0N/0Ff button to turn the power on. The lens
cap opens and the LCD indicator appears.
The lens cap closes and power switches off automatically
after 3.pinutes if the camera is not in use.
While ilooking through the viewfinder, aim the camera at
the subject and operate the zoom buttons.
Press the 'T' (fete) button to move the lens out (l) and
press the 'W' (wiOe) button to move the lens in (2).
During this operation, the LCD panel shows the focal lengths in the

HOLDING THE CAMERA
x ln order to avoid camera shake, hold the camera steadily,
especially when uSing'longer focal lengths(Tele).
Hold the camera strap in your wrist.
Both elbows( horizontal picture) or one elbow (vertical pic-
ture) shquld be held close to your body.
Keep your eye close to the viewfinder when using the ca-
mera.
NOTE
. Avoid obstructing of the lens when you take a picture. Pictures can
be spoiled when a finger, hair, or camera strap falls in front of the
lens, exposure sensor or autofocus windows.
.When you take vertical pictures with flash, the flash should be

TAKING PICTURES
. Aim the Autofocus frame at the subject.
' Press the slrutter button half way down. The lens is
focused when the green lamp turns on.
' lf the subject is 1.25m(4.lft) or closer, the green lamp
blinks 4uickly and the shutter locks. ln this case, you can ' still tal(b pictures by using Macro mode.
' Press the shutter button all the way down to take a picture. ' Press the shutter button carefully to avoid camera shake.
' The film will automatically advance after shooting and the frame
counter will advance.
NOTE. After taking pictures, turn the camera off. This will protect the lens and prevent unintended
x shots.The model has a ' diopter " control on the viewfinder which adjusts for individual eyesight
requirements.
Slide the diopter control either up or down whilst looking through the vievufinder to obtain the optimum
setting.

When you press the shutter button half way down in low light, the
Red LED will turn on if the flash is fully charged.
l. The Red LED blinks rapidly when the flash is not fully charged.(Sfrutter locks automatically)
2. When the Red LED blinks slowly, use a tripod or steady support to avoid camera shake.
NOTE
ln order to avoid camera shake, hold the camera steadily and press the shutter button
gently, particularly when using longer focal lengths(telephoto).
To take clear pictures with flash, refer to the above flash coverage.

USING THE FOCUSLOCK
J/L4 \,'- 4 ' lf you want to focus on a subject that is not in the center
of your picture, us€.the focus lock function described below. 'ij.\u6^ l. Aim the camera with the autofocus frame superimposeo over
the target.
Press tlfre shutter button half way down.(The green LED
illuminates or blinks slowly.)
Be careful not to press the shutter button all the way down
to avoid taking an unwanted picture.
3. Keeping the shutter button depressed, recompose your picture
as desired.
Hold the camera steadily and gently press the shutter button
completely down.
The focus lock can be released at any time by lifting your finger
from the shutter button.
Some subjects are dfficult to focus on.

The Green LED illuminates when the subjmt is between 1.25m

The Green LED blinks rapidly when the subject is too close.
The shutter locks automatically. (You can still take pictures by using Macro
mode.) The Creen LED blinks slowly when the subject is between 0.65-1.25m
(2.1- .lft)and you use the Macro mode.
The Green LED blinks slowly when the subject is between
0.65-1.25m(2.1-4.1ft) and you use the Macro mode.
The Red LED turns on when the flash is fully charged (in low light

REPTACING THE BATTERY OF THE DATE

. When the display of the date becomes too faint to read, the battery should be replaced.
' Unscrew an{ open the battery chamber cover as shown above. . Take out the old battery and insert a fresh one, with the positive(*) side up. . After replacing the battery, reset the date. . Power source : One coin type 3V lithium battery(Jls CR-123A)
. Battery life : Approx. 4 years.
NOTE. The date may be difficult to read if it is imprinted on a bright or nonuniform area of the picture.

. Use the Multi-Exposure shooting mode to combine multiple images
on a single fram{ r . Press the shutter button after selecting the multi-exposure
the shooting mode ( E ) Thq film will not advance and indicate that , Multi-Exposure mark( ft ) will blink to Multi-Exposure shooting is in progress.
TO COMBINE MORE THAN TWO IMAGES :
Select the Multi-Exposure shooting mode again before the second
exposure, and those succeeding it. After the last exposure in the
sequence, the film will advance to the next frame.
NOTE
You are recommended to combine just two exposures on a frame as
too many multiple shots may overexpose the picture.
You will have more success when you use Multi-Exposure
in a dark background.

D(POSURE COMPENSATION
Use Exposure compensation to manually adjust the level of exposure to compensate for lighting levels.
Use the "+" position to increase exposure or the r"-2 position to decrease exposure.
The compensation value can be set by depressing the zooming button tele(T) or wide (W) while keeping
the FLASH button depressed.
The range of compensation is bptween -3EV and +3EV in gradations of 0.5EV.
