SELECTINGASA SPEEDSETTING First, determinefrom the instruition sheet enclosedwith film, the correct ASA(or DIN ) rating number. Turn the inner dial until the desiredASA (or OIN )number appears in theASA(or DIN ) window. READI NG THE METER Now that your ASA (or DIN ) is in place, simply point the meter at your subject (at a distance qf 3-6 inches). This will activate the red needle. When the needle stops moving, rotate the outer dial until the sam€ indicating number to whtch the needle points is alignedwith the white indicatingmark. lf you measure in so dim Iight that the needle falls to rospond, push the black button to change the measuring from to LOW. Don't forget that you have to read the red indicating numbors for HIGH range and the black numbers for LOW range (in case of pushingthe button). Upon achieving alignment, stop to rotate the out€r dial and take your reading(the outer dial Indicat€*shutter speedsand the inner dial indicates1/stops). Any combinationwill give you a correct r€ading, but select $e shutter speed and f/stop combinationwhich best suits your subiect. Red dot which is marked between 15 and 30 in the scale of shut- ter speeds means 16 frames, persecond for movie shooting. lf your camera incorporatesan EVS or LVS system of exposure sitting, simply read the EV number to which the EV arrow points, aft€r you have alignedthe indicatlngnumberand the green mark. Then set this EV number on your camera and you are ready to shctot a perfectly exposed picture. READING I NACCESSIBLE SUBJECTS When your subiect is inaccessible, use the palm of your hand as a substitude. Position your hand so that the light strikes the palm at the same angle as it is hittlng your sublect. Take your reading with the meter about 4 inches away f rom your palm, READING UNDER BRIGHT LIGHT lf the sun is very bright behind or near your sublect, p0int the meter slightly down to prevent inaccurate readings because of €xcessrve light from the sk!. READI NG CLOSE-UP SUBJECTS Take several readingsat different parts of your subject. The cor- roct f/stop is determined by taking th€ average of these r€adings.View original page 4

cHANGTNG BATTERT I
As the Auto Range uses Cadmium Sulfid;, it requirds a mercury
battery of 1.3 volls to operate it (type 0f the battery: National
M-D, Toshiba TH-MC in Japan or Mallory RM-625, Eveready E625
in U.S.A.). Unlike the ordinary dry cell which drops in voltage as
it is useC up, the mercury battery yields a constantlevel of power
output until the end of its operatinglife, when i! takes a sud!en
drop and gives practicallyno reaction. h .t
lf the exposureneedle fails to come to the batteri'chdcl point
