Congratulationson your purchaseof a
SekonicZoomMasterL-508ExposureMeter.
The Zoom Master L-508 is the latest additionto the extensiveline of Sekonic
ExposureMeterswhich have been marketleadersfor over four decades.
It was designedto be the ultimatemeter,a do-allinstrumentfor the most demanding
pros.
It is the first zoom spot meter on the market.Nine camera-qualitylens elements
are requiredto accomplishits 1' to 4' zoom range.
Its sealed housingand controlsmake it water and moistureresistant.
Yes,you can use it in the rain, but it is not an underwatermeter.
Its large LCD display makes readingseasy and lights up automaticallyin dark
surroundings.
In order not to crowd the controls, four functionswhich are less frequentlyused,
are confinedto DIP switches, locatedin the batterycompartment.
Becauseof its many features, the L-508 requiresthis rather extensivemanual.
But since you will never use them all at the same time, once you have learnedall
about it, it is simple and its use will becomesecond nature.
The Zoom Master L-508 has undergoneextensivequalitycontrolsat every step
of manufacture.Pleaseread this instructionmanualthoroughly,to be able to take
advantageof its many featuresand to obtainthe long servicelife it is designedfor.
Thank you for your confidencein Sekonic.View original page 3Page 5 · Read text

cord mode.
a Rapid start fluorescentlamps and special lightingare sometimes mistakenfor flash,
and accidentallymeasured. In this case, make measurementsusing the flash with
cord mode.
Reference:
. Settingthe shufterspeed is the same as measurement(see page 14) of "Flash mode
with cord" of Section2-1.
. "E.un(Exposureunder) or "E.o" (Exposureover) appears when the combinationof
shufterspeed and apertureis not possiblefor the measuredlight level. Change the
shutter speed with the SeVchangedial and take measurementsagain.
. lf the "E.unor "E.o' readoutblinks, this indicatesthat the light level is beyond of the
measurementrange of the light meter.

This functionis usefulfor evaluatingstudio lightingand checkingthe evennessof the lightingset-up

Take a measured value at a certain point as a standard value. The difference between the standard
value and a new measuredvalue is displayedas EV and the f-stop in analog scale.
