ON THE SUBJECT YOU ARE PHOTOGRAPHING.
'fhe subject you choose to photograph will determine
the lens you need. Although there is no strict rule for
lens selection, there are rule of thumb theories for
making picture taking more convenient. For example,
a telephoto lens with a focal length of over 200mm is
    recommendedfor sports shots,while a 24/ 28mm range
u'ide angle lens is recommended for group shots and

FOCAL LENGTH RANGE, LENS BRIGHTNESS AND
COMPACTNESS-THESE ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT
FACTORS IN SELECTING YOUR LENS.
The design objectives for the ideal zoom lens are a
'nvidezoom range, exceptional lens brightness and com-
pactness To satify all three of these objectives in a
single lens is a cclmplex task...because, in terms of
optical design, these requirements ma1' work against
each other. Before vou select a lens, it is rvise to

first priority.. These are tlt ci $'a).q to evaluate zoom

 (1) Zoomralto --divide the largest focal length bi'the
shortest focai length of the lens:
 (2) Angle-of-\,'ieu, Change Ratio -- subtract the mini-

r.r-rethodis best for avaluating telephoto zoom lens
and the Angle-of-View Change Ratio is best for
      n'ide to telephoto zoom lenses.

The Sigma 28-84mm F3.5-4.5
Fast, easy control of perspective and angle-of-view,is one of the key advantagesof the wide angle zoom lens. And
the control is measured by the change in angle-of-view,not focal length. The Sigma 28-84mm lens changes the
angle-of-view an amazing 45 degrees from 75 degrees to 30 degrees. The changing image in view finder is just
dramatic. Sigma's unique "Quintet-Cam-Drive-System" assures remarkably high optical performance at entire
zoom ranges yet very compact in size. The Sigma's Non-Stop macro system allows you to take close-up
photography at any focal length at the minimum focusing distance 50cm without switching to macro position. And
Sigma-sunique Variable-Depth lens hood provides perfect protection for ghost and flareless photography through-
out its focal length range.

A BETTER PICTURE QUALITY,
THE FIRST TELEPHOTO OF ITS KIND.

T!e^nlore you are captivated by the world of photography, the more you begin to seek a higher quality image. The
APO Zoom lens has been designedfor the professional in the field. When one seeks to improve the quality of the
image, chromatic aberrations become a matter of the utmost importance. The refractive index difference of each
color produces a srnall shift of the image point, and greatly influences the image contrast. The adoption of the S.
L.D. (Special Low Dispersion) lens allows the APO Zoom to eliminate chromatic aberrations to the maiximum
degree and makes this the Sigma zoom series which produces a remarkably superior contrast picture. The sharp
image without chromatic aberrations from these lensesare enough to satisfy the professional eye. The beautiful
pearl tone finish is just the right design for this high quality lens series.
