What is the Soligor Spot/Sensor Meter ?

The Soligor Spot/Sensor is a professionalexposure meter which measures an extremely
narrow, 1', angle of illumination.Conventionalexposuremeters read an area approximately
equalto the brea coveredby the camera'snormal lens. This results in an "average"
reading. The result can be a poorly exposedphotographdue to the exposuremeter erron-
eously readingan unimportantarea such as a very bright object or dark background..The
Soligor Spot/Sensor Meter enables the photographerto measure the most important areas
in the photographto which he will key his exposure.

The SoligorSpot/SensorMeter utilizes an ultra sensitiveCdS cell so that extremely low . l
light exposuremeasurementsmay be made. iJ
As an exampleof a situation requiringthe use of a spot meter, let us assume that you
intend to photographa person in bright sunlight on a beach or standing against a snow
background.A standardmeter would read the bright sands or snow and.giveyou an inac-
curate readingcausing an under-exposureof your prime subject. With the Soligor Spot/
Sensor Meter, however, you can read only the face of the person you are photographing
and achievea perfect exposure. In addition. if the subject is made up of very bright and
dark areas you can read each individuallyand then average your exposureto achievethe
best results.

Howdoesthe SoligorSpot/Sensorwork?

When the meter is pointed towards the
subject, a beam of light enters the meter
through the lens, and is reflected on to a
mirror. In the center of the mirror is a
small part which is half-coated, through
which part of the light passes to activate
the extremely sensitive Cadmium Sulphide
(CdS) cell. This CdS cell activates the
needle, visible in the viewf inder. The
remaininglight is reflected to the built-in
penta-prism and is thus visible through the
eyepiece. To determine the exact "spot"
in the center of the field of view, a small
circular mark is visible which should be
pointed towards the subject.

4. Look through the viewfinder and center the
sensingspot ( t A ) on the subject. Only the area
   within.the circularsensingspot will be measured.

further will place it into the second click-stop position to be used in dim or poorly illu-
minated areas. When operated in the second click-stop position the scale marked "L"
   (17) shouldbe used. The meter is automaticallyswitched off when the trigger is
   released.

Care and Storage

The Soligor Spot/Sensor exposure meter is a heavy duty piece of, equipment, precision
engineeredto give the very best results for many years. The all metal, die-cast body
requires no special care, however, never drop or bump the meter unnecessarily.lt should i
be treated as the fine optical instrumentit is. Avoid storing the meter in places with
extremes in temperature or humidity. The lens should be kept clean and free of finger
prints. lt is advisableto remove the batterie'sfrom the meter if you are not going to use
't
               it in some time.
